Happy 20th Super Mario 64!

This game is 20 years old today. I'm only 1 year older than the game, but I can fondly remember growing up with this game, being scared of Pianos, and dropping Penguins off the edge of the world (everyone had to have done this.) I've decided to post my top 5 tracks from this game, and please remember that this is just my opinion, and should be treated as such, for someone else's may differ.   Koopa's Road   Going to take on Bowser in style with this music.   Dire Dire Docks   Probabl

Bowser's Castle-Mario Kart 8

Ok. If you look at the title of the game, you would know it is a Wii U Title. I'm late to the party because I just got one 3 months ago (March 15). I bought it off of this dude from Craigslist for $200, which was cheaper than in any of the stores. Everything was still in their wrapping. I asked the dude if there was any games with it, and I was told no. Little did I know, (and I guess he as well) that when I hooked it up at home, it was a Wii U with Mario Kart 8 Pre-Installed, (which I thought w

Beginning-Super Castlevania IV

Ok. This theme here has multiple variations, with the first one starting in Castlevania III for the NES with Trevor Belmont (who doesn't love the Belmont clan?) Super Castlevania IV is my favorite game in the series before the Metroidvania kicked in.     This variation doesn't appear until the very last level with another classic: Vampire Killer. You have to avoid this big spiky wheel as you ascend the castle of Dracula .I've died so many times doing it, but it was nice to know that once

Mechanical Rhythm-Xenoblade Chronicles/3D

What can I say about this track? Well first it was composed by Yoko Shimomura, a Japanese video game composer who has done such works for the Mario and Luigi series and the Kingdom Hearts series. This specific piece, along with the other 91 tracks, are from Xenoblade Chronicles, which originally appeared on the Wii in 2010, and as a New 3DS port in 2015. Now I'm not sure if this piece is found as you progress through the game (because I have yet to beat it), but this is probably one of my favori

The Discolored Wall-Castlevania Bloodlines

The only thing I am aware of is that the Sega Genesis came out before I was born. I still had a great time with this system growing up with the three games I had for it. (My parents hardly bought video games for me as a kid. I'm glad I can buy them for myself now.) One of those games happened to be Castlevania Bloodlines.   My parents letting me play that game at the young age I was was the worst thing ever. Blood dripping from mutilated bodies that hung from the ceiling, and just blood in ge

Porky (Pokey) Means Business-Earthbound

So I tried to find a video with Porky Pig getting angry and reacting in a violent way, but there was none that I really liked.   Earthbound for the SNES (or Mother 2 in Japan) is a really fun game. I have not made much progress in it at all, (only in Twoson), but of what I played, again I say it is really fun. I guess you can say it was the "Mother" of RPG's......   Anyway, without getting far into the game, this specific track has always stood out to me, even more than Onett's theme and that

Through the Fire and Flames- Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock

Hey this is music that is in a video game, so it should count (I will limit the music from these type of games since it gives me liberty to post whatever.)   Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce is considered the hardest song ever in the Guitar Hero series, which would still make it the hardest song ever on Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock. The song starts out with a whole bunch of notes just flying towards you. On the Wii version (which I have) and I believe the PS2, choosing that song o

Devil's Call in Your Heart-F-Zero X

Who can remember the futuristic racing game F-Zero? Not having Mario Kart for either the SNES or N64, that's where the F-Zero series filled that space (including F-Zero GX for the GameCube, which I don't remember so well). There are a ton of awesome tracks on F-zero X, but if it wasn't for it's music, it probably would have been nothing. I can say that this was my first exposure to the music genre heavy metal when I was a kid. You have track songs like the iconic "Mute City" (Endless Challenge),

Krook's March-Donkey Kong Country 2:Diddy Kong's Quest

Hello and welcome to The Land of VGM. In this blog I will be posting various VGM (Video Game Music) from what I have played, or may not have played (yet). Today I will start off with a favorite of mine from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's-Quest, and that is Krook's March.     This song appears in three levels (Castle Crush, Chain Link Chamber, and Toxic Tower) in the second to last area in the game, K.Rool's Keep. Despite the difficulty in these three levels, I enjoyed going through t
