About this blog

So, somewhat recently, I was looking through memes(I know, I'm a meme-peasant, bite me) when I came across a The Wolf of Wall Street meme when they have the big office party. However, it was playing a track from a song I've never heard before. I had to have replayed it at least twenty times trying to comprehend what I was listening. I ended up finding out it was a song called Rational Gaze. I still didn't know who actually made the song though, and I was quite intrigued with how complex the song actually was.

By complex, I mean just the weird time signatures and how down-tuned the guitars were. I did some digging, and I found out more about this band. The name of their band is called Meshuggah, and they're from Sweden. They specialize in the odd time signatures, such as the drums and the riffs. I sound the album it was off of, Nothing, and I have to say, I am completely blown away by these guys skills. Although they are pretty much the definition of 'It's just noise', if you actually sit down and listen to it, especially their newer albums like The Violent Sleep of Reason and Koloss, you would understand just how intricate these guys are. It completely blows any other band I've listened to for the past few years since I became a metal-head out of the water!

If I was you, I'd start with the album Contradictions Collapse and go from there. It was their first album(I think), and Jens(The lead singer) uses a more understandable singing voice. I absolutely love these guys, and they are one of the best bands I've ever heard live before. I personally haven't been to one of their shows(They never really come to America), but the videos on YouTube have them sounded pretty much just like they do in the studio.

If the vocals are too much for you, which is completely understandable, I think there are some instrumental videos to listen to. Even if you aren't into metal like I am, I'd still suggest to check these guys out, just for the structures of almost every song they have put out. Not a single one is bad, in my opinion of course.

So, there's my rant on Meshuggah. Hope you found it interesting!

Have a lovely day/night!
