About this blog

As part of the 2018 Making Christmas Merrier, and after much coaxing from my daughter @Salty Sweetness, I put myself in the line of fire. The challenge given to the community was simple. If we reached $2500.00 raised for the charity, I would agree to cosplay as a character from MLP. If the gender of the character was female, then I would have to crossdress as that character (known as crossplay). The community smashed the goal and finally selected Trixie Lulamoon as the character I will need to crossplay as. There are several challenges I have to meet.

Construct the cosplay and keep a blog about it with weekly entries.

Indecision - Too many colors

This week I went through and made the basic purchases for the final Trixie cosplay. I will be trying to pull off this version of Trixie from Equestria Girls.       It started simple enough. Blue hoodie, purple skirt, and purple shirt.          Not hard to find some garments that match enough. I picked up blue dye that I will use for the bottom of the skirt. I will still need yellow dye, and some fabric markers to make the bottom of the skirt and the hoodie cuffs (etc) match.        I will also be using some of that dye along with extensions to pull off Trixie's hair. That and hairspray and gel should help get the style done right.          Then I started to hit a snag. Trixie's shows and legwear. I made a requirement that I could not pull off heels and was not cool with bear legs because of some scarring due to a car accident. My daughter nixed jeans and suggested opaque tights. Trixie wears blue socks so this was the initial idea and I pulled the trigger on these.        Next we turned our eyes to her shoes. This became a challenge. Block heeled blue high top purple and blue deep tread sneakers are not exactly easy to come by. Add to that difficulty is the fact that apparently you need to add two sizes to your current men's shoe size to find a comparable women's shoe size. Size 11 womens shoes are a trick in general. After an exhaustive search my daughter purchased two different shoe styles as she wasn't sure what would look okay.  I may wear those normally!  and then these         The change in shoe style from the show also made it hard to tell of the initial legwear socks and light blue tights would work so these were ordered as options in case they don't work.            This was me after all of this    What did I get myself into? My Amazon suggested order page is all sures of interesting now.

Face It! - Procuring Makeup is Taxing

So the process of putting together the cosplay you all voted for has definately been started. There are several elements of this that are concurrently being assembled and while things like shoes are proving to be crazy frustrating, the one thing that has really opened my eyes to what women deal with is the makeup. Let's break this down. This is the current list of things that I need.    Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage Creme Bobbi Brown Corrector (this is basically light pink concealer) Urban Decay All-Nighter Foundation (this is a foundation) Kryolan Setting PowderMAC 214 Shader Brush MAC Skinfinish Natural powders (for a VERY light blush).  MAC 214 Shader Brush MAC Omega eyeshadow  Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil (This is a eyeliner primer).  Lip gloss and a very muted natural color lipstick.  Brushes .... a metric fuck ton of brushes! You have a blush brush, a eyeshadow brush, a crease brush and things I have no idea what the hell they are for.  Tweezers.   and this   That's an eyelash curler, and have always thought that these things looked like a medieval torture device. I make just up for fake lashes because I keep mentally visualizing my eye popping out. Nightmare fuel. Game over man, game over. So after ordering must of this I did grab one thing that I actually thought was pretty cool. You see, I have brown eyes. Trixie does not. So .... I ordered purple colored contacts!    I'm sorry but that is just freaking cool looking. So what is the take away from all of this? One, you all should understand now that I am all in on this. Two, even though I have been married to a women and have a daughter, I realized I never paid any attention to all the shit they put on their face over the years or how they did it. Those who will be rooming with me at BronyCon ... I am sorry but I will likely be in the bathroom for a while putting all this nonsense on. I may keep those contacts on after my time in the cosplay is over though. Purple is my favorite color and those are AMAAAAAZING.
