So I just played an intramural soccer game today. Actually, I played two. It's a tournament-esque type of event where our university divides up into teams to play soccer against each other. With this blog post, I'm going to give you guys an overview of what happened at both games and how they turned out. As of tonight, I've played 4 games with my teammates.
Part 1: A Filler for a team in need of players So I came to the field where I was supposed to play at noon. My real game was at 1:00 pm
This was why I wanted to host an event like the World Cup on MLPF. Reading through all these quotes again has left me hoping that most of my Masters work will be done by the time I kickstart the qualifying phases of the 2017/2018 MLPF World Cup.
Thanks @Stellafera for making the vid once again
For those of you unaware of what I'm talking about, here's the thread for the inaugural edition. It's basically a huge voting tournament to determine who the forum's favourite pony is. And a ch
So basically, I've started writing fanfics for MLP since I've had a hard time being a part of long-lasting roleplays that went through all the way to end. As such, I decided to start writing out my own stories which you can find here along with their descriptions!
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/282643/civilization-the-world-on-your-hooves It's a fan fic about Button Mash moving to Ponyville, in the views of a famous turn-based strategy game!
Before I start with this entry, I hope you have been acquainted with the first part of my "coping with anxiety" series. In my first blog, I talked about writing down your fears on a piece of paper or on your laptop's notepad and reflecting on them. So many people like me face anxiety every day, and I began this blog series to help fellow bronies cope with being scared about many different, important matters in their lives.
Now I move forward to the second piece of advice I have: Talking abou
I just wanted to show you guys a way to help cope with your anxiety. On the first spoiler, I write down how I typically feel whenever I feel very anxious. Just an hour ago, I felt very anxious about many things that were happening to me in my life recently. I then decided... why not write down all that I was thinking... why I felt so nervous... You will see all that at the spoiler.
Did you read the
On my previous blog post, I talked about being a competitor at the Three Minute Thesis Competition, where I had to speak about my project in three minutes. Now the time has come. I have the links to my speech and the vote site below! Please watch, give feedback, and vote for me if you can! I'm trying to win $250!
You can vote by clicking on "vote now
Starting Monday, I'll be needing the help of the entire forums. You see, I competed at a speaking competition this past February where I talked for precisely three minutes about my water research. Although I didn't place, I have a chance to win People's Choice and $250. All you need to do is to sign up to their website on Monday and vote for my speech. The email I received earlier today provides the details on the voting competition.
I see this as an opportunity to spread th
These past few weeks have been really hard on me. My piano teacher's getting fired because of the university's financial concerns (the Redeemer one), my friend being at the university where a shooting took place, and just a lot of stress from all the work I have to do at grad school.
My piano teacher looked very defeated when he asked what piece I wanted to learn from him... I knew it would be one of the last pieces I'd ever learn from him, since he was going to go back to the US to find a
It was a sunny Thursday morning when I arrived at the Life Sciences Building at McMaster University. I was eagerly preparing my things for my PCR reaction to detect bacteria found in mice feces. All of my reagents were ready. Everything was clean and perfectly set up. This was going to be a good day I thought.
Then it was time to open my laptop and check the news like I always did to start the day. The first headline I read would change all that...
"Shooting at FSU injures 3, shooter kil
Oh what a frabjous day this is! The university I attend had a poster show where we could buy posters below $10.00 each. You can imagine what I did when I encountered not one, but two MLP posters...
Yes. I bought two MLP posters! The best part? I think one of the store cashier people... I think he was a brony. His fellow worker was joking about him wanting an MLP poster. Oh! I also managed to get another poster for my favourite football team ever. Can you guess which it is?
Well, it's not exactly as the title says, but the World Cup is indeed coming back for 2017, and not 2018, as 2017 will be a year of celebrating the completion of my Masters Degree in Biology. I have many things planned for the 2017 MLPF World Cup, but I need everyone's help! The information about the 2017 MLPF World Cup can be found below.
The 2017 MLPF World Cup will have the exact same format as the 2014 MLPF World Cup. However, there are plans to significantly change th
In short, with all the PMVs that have gone out, I'm surprised there aren't more for musical number! I can definitely see PMVs for the following musical numbers, and here's my idea that will go along with it!
1. MAKE 'EM LAUGH (From Singin' in the Rain)
Just imagine Cheese Sandwich trying to make people laugh with his party antics all over Equestria. Imagine him singing this to Pinkie Pie as they both concoct a plan to throw the best part Equestria's ever seen. Just imagine Cheese San
As the summer comes to an end, I began to realize just how much things will change for me beginning in less than 2 weeks. On September 1st, I'm heading off to graduate school to begin what will become my life. All around me, I can hear people so excited for me as I go off into a world where I can learn something new. I personally am excited to be able to work with water contamination and finding newer and faster ways to detect dangerous bacteria and viruses in our waters. I won't go too much int
Are you happily in a MLP Forum relationship? Have a wonderful friendship story you experienced with MLP Forums? Feeling hopeful about finding love? Do you like a feel-good story? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then these threads are for you! These are the perfect places where you can express love, whether filial or romantic! It's also a way to show how people have been able to form new relationships on a forum where friendship is indeed magic! I hope you enjoy either thread of yo
So... Try thinking of a slower tune as you read through my next list of shoutouts...
So MLPF's a place for bronies to meet...
Oh how delightful, oh how sweet...
Now it's time to acknowledge the members
who we need to remember...
for all their efforts in keeping,
the forums gleaming...
First I'll start with more of my friends...
Lundmunchkins who read A Temporal Odyssey,
and MaestroNep9997, the awesome man from Singapore...
Ninetails who so roleplayed with Sterling at
Hey guys... I need your help with something.
Just today, the current host of March Madness has decided to leave MLPForums and move on. With this, he he also left March Madness without a host. It's a more compact World Cup where ponies undergo voting battles like we did for the 2014 MLPF World Cup.
I am personally in no mood to host anything like the World Cup again for at least 2 years. I will be more than willing to help organize the schedule and format, but I need someone else to execu
I don't know why, but I'm suddenly feeling the urge to give a shout out to many members of MLPF. So here goes nothing. I challenge you to make a song out of this... Wait a minute... maybe I should give it a go before I start grad school for my next blog post...
DJ-BRONI3 was my first close friend here... while Steel Accord is valiant 'cross the roleplays... Good luck being a GK Logical Aventura... cause you'll need it when you start your soccer career... And Artemis I missed all tho
I feel that at this point, after seeing my most recent status update go red, I realized I made a hug mistake. I lashed out at people who were deeply involved with the World Cup way back this past winter, and I regret it.
I took some time off my laptop to the advice of a friend of mine and realized that I had this anger welling up in me for an extended period of time since the World Cup came on hiatus on March. I faced much adversity trying to raise awareness about the tournament, whether it
I was just listening to Aaron Copland's "Hoe-down" from his ballet "Rodeo" and I was wondering, "Wow... it fits the Apple Family really well..." So that got me thinking. Why not I associate all the major characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with a classical piece?
Now... let's get started.
The Apple Family
The classical piece I chose for this one is definitely Aaron Copland's "Rodeo". It's a ballet that specifically takes place in the Wild West, starring a young cow-girl a
If you aren't aware, I'm released interviews of many forum members from all walks of life. Many of them have a favourite character from MLP:FiM. And now, I give you an exclusive look into the story behind their love for their character and their reactions to the MLPF World Cup.
I have already interviewed our two commentators and a neutral member in the World Cup, but the first interview will happen on Monday May 12th, 2014! I hope you guys enjoy the interviews I have in store f
Now to replace negative thoughts with positive attitudes. Enough of last night. I got mad at my beloved Toronto Raptors getting scrubbed by the Brooklyn Nets by a combination of poor play, lack of heart, and rigged refereeing. It blew a fuse in me and it transferred my anger from the game to the vitriol I saw on my blog post when analyzing Group F of the MLPF World Cup (the comment has since been deleted).
Now for the first reason I wanted to host the event. I'm really passionate when it com
Well well... It seems that I've finally completed my undergraduate education. I'm going to have an Honours BsC diploma in Biology up my wall to show for all my efforts... It's been a tough, yet life-changing four years. I've grown a lot as a person, learning a lot about research, relationships, and recreation.
Research wise, I learned a lot about the microscopic world that biology has to offer. I've grown to appreciate all the complexities of life and how much it helps to keep our well-being
The World Cup Group Stages Schedule has been released as pretty icons! Feel free to mark your calendars to the most important dates for your favourite ponies! Also feel free to analyze which matches would be most important and which matches would be the most competitive!
I will start analyzing the Groups on April 26th. I will then analyze each character everyday before the 2014 MLPF World Cup!
