If you want to run emulators like Dolphin, I do not recommend an AMD APU.

I thought that's what I was SUPPOSED to look for?

if none of those are what I should get, then which one? I have a $600.00 limit, and I NEED it from Wal-Mart only!

You're gonna need to aim for higher than $600 if you want to run Dolphin. Much higher. I have a $1400 laptop and it can barely run most Gamecube games in Dolphin.

Better yet, if you want to run Dolphin, you pretty much need a desktop.

okay, then forget dolphin emulation, which of the four is better?

Asus seems better tbh. But can you tell me why you want a new laptop?

I need one for college, but I want it to last longer than 2 years (duh)

so which should I choose then?

WHICH DO I CHOOOOOOSE?

tell me and I shall give you a cookie ^_^

Asus. Intel traditionally performs better than AMD in single-threaded tasks, so you'd be getting more bang for your buck with Intel than AMD imo.

okay, so which of the two ASUS computers should I get that I showed you?

Strictly going off stats, brands and prices and not knowing what you plan on using it for.  Usually I'd recommend something with a newest generation Intel i7 processor to really get good performance, but in your price range the AMD's on these ones are probably fine for most tasks.  Although admittedly I haven't owned a laptop with an AMD processor in quite a few years, so I'm not particularly familiar with their performance first hand.

1 - Acer:  It's close between the Acer and the non-refurbished HP, but the Acer has a better processor, and it's cheaper so unless you really have a need for the extra HD space, I'd go with the Acer.  It does have less ram and the ram is mixed (likely a 4gig card and a 2gig card) so you'll get slightly less performance on that, but it should be enough for most anything and have a good speed for a computer in that price range.   Plus ram is cheap and easy to upgrade yourself should you ever find that the speed is lacking.

2 - Non-Refurbished HP:  Just not a fan of Toshiba's or refurbished laptops.  Every Toshiba I've owned or worked with has had constant issues with the chargers and the laptop cases tend to be very poorly crafted (although granted that's a problem with most modern laptops sadly).  I'm also not a fan of the 17 inch sized laptops... there's not much extra viewing space but they're a pain in the ass to transport.  Unless you specifically need a laptop with a full size number pad on it or don't plan on moving the laptop I'd stay away from the 17 inch size.

3 - Toshiba:  For third and fourth it was pretty much a battle of whether I hate Toshiba's or refurbished computers more and the Toshiba won.  Problem with refurbished laptops is you're only going to get a 90 day warranty, so if anything does go wrong you're basically on your own.  Plus refurbished laptops on Walmart and other big-name stores tend to be older models with slightly out of date processors, which just cause trouble since computers become obsolete so quickly.  I'd just stick with something new.

4 - Refurbished HP for all the previously discussed reasons.

Its not here, however ASUS is what will best fit your needs. Ive used a lot of them and they are fantastic, :)

One thing though, even though they say refurbished, avoid them, b/c they will get damaged a little quicker. Yet the 500 ASUS one is the exact one i have and runs great. :D

highly discourage getting anything HP. They use shitty motherboards now. I've learned from experience. A brand new, perfectly good computer of mine gave out after only a year of use simply because the motherboard was cheap and half-assed.

If you're going to buy a laptop for college, I would first recommend buying a laptop. Does not have a touch screen. I would also recommend buying a laptop has a durable outside shell. And I would also recommend having a laptop that has a SSD rather than a HDD because of increase risk of damaging the data.

Secondly, for the specs, it would depend on what you would use it for.

Are you going to do modeling and animations or are you looking for one that has the capability of playing games properly?
