Every now and them I plan to make an entry like this listing many facts about the number 42. I plan to include about 6 facts per post. The first two facts here I already revealed in status updates, I'm putting them here for completeness, but the rest are NEVER SEEN BEFORE facts! You don't want to miss them!

Fact 1: The integers preceding and following 42 (41 and 43) form a pair of twin primes.

Fact 2: If you multiply 42 by 10, the result (420) is the smallest positive integer divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Fact 3: Two standard 6-sided dice have a total of 42 dots on them.

Fact 4: In binary, 42 is written as 101010. You can check this because it means that the units digit is 0, twos digit is 1, fours digit is 0, eights digit is 1, sixteens digit is 0 and thirty-twos digit is 1. 42 is indeed the result of 2 + 8 + 32.

Fact 5: If you raise 42 to the power of 42, the 40th digit of the resulting 69-digit number and the digit before it (the 39th digit) form a 42.

Fact 6: If you drilled a hole through the center of the earth and jumped in, it will take you slightly over 42 minutes to reach the other side of the earth. In fact, even if the tunnel doesn't go through the center of the earth, as long as it is a straight line between two points on the earth's surface and your only acceleration through the tunnel is provided only by the earth's gravity, it will still take slightly over 42 minutes to reach the other side. (However, this assumes many impractical and impossible things, including there being no air resistance or friction, the earth isn't rotating, and the earth is a perfect sphere)
