I actually liked Rainbow Dash's conflict in the episode, it was the remaining five's behavior I didn't liked in this episode. If RD fans were upset about her behavior, then I can't imagine how they liked her in May the Best Pet Win and a couple others in Season 4.

Yeah, I could name a few right now that I didn't like as much. And I could see that being a reason for the backlash (although I've seen just as much criticism directed at the other friends).

Actually, I consider Rainbow Dash a favorite character myself, but I think this one did a pretty good job exploring her and even making her likable in certain spots. (Her redemption bit at the end was a sweet little moment.)

Well, I guess you could make the arguement that her redeeming qualities were more explicit in those, but I did think they were present here too. I pretty much said what I had to say on the friends toward the end of the video.

It didn't even occur to me that I'm supposed to hate Mysterious Mare Do Well, or Rainbow Falls, until the fandom told me I should.

I guess MMDW ain't so great, but I haven't been convinced to dislike Rainbow Falls.

After all, it is a Key/Trinket episode, that makes me respect it! Also, i figure the morals were good in it.

The cloud scene and the character development resulting from it were well worth a little frustration at the characters' sudden inability to communicate like real people.

Hm, well if we're debating what it would be instead... 

To me, Rainbow Falls had a general air of goofiness that said it shouldn't be taken too seriously. It was kinda stupid, but in a lighthearted, enjoyable sort of way, and still got its dilemma across well enough for me. (A guilty pleasure, like I said in the video.) I'd have to vote Spike at Your Service instead, which just made Spike into an idiot for the sake of unfunny hijinks. Or One Bad Apple, which I'd like to nominate for single worst moral parable the show has ever done.

As for Simple Ways... sorry, but I thought the comedic timing and the Applejack/Rarity dynamic in that one was excellent, so I can't help you there.
