Beating Rainbow Dash #2
So, I've made a plane that goes really fast, (and loses power every ten minutes,) but I have no idea if it can actually steer, because I didn't try that. So I'll have to try that. I think Genezor Kerman will not survive this. (heheh... >:3)
After recovering our crash-landed Sonic Rainboom mk1, it's time to do some crashing flying around the Kerbal Space Centre. Maybe even do some tricks.
[Launch #1]
Ohke, launch! I flew a bit slower, because I want to be able to steer this plane, and not just fly in a straight line. After taking off, I flew a few rounds around the centre, and then I wanted to do this awesome close-shave with the Vehicle Assembly Building, and it went well, right up until the moment the left wing hit the building. After that it fell out of the sky and exploded. It turns out, in the debug menu, explosion sizes are measured in "blast awesomeness". Sounds cool. RIP Genezor Kerman, he and his contributions for science will be remembered. Ohke, next test subject! Who is our lucky volunteer? Richby Kerman. He has Rich in his name, so I don't trust 'em... I'll be watching that little guy...
[Launch #2] Aaand... Launch! Take off, aaaaand the game crashed. Great. Richby lives another day...
*restarts game*
[Launch #3]
Richby goes up and away, and hey! I took some pictures this time!
Everything goes well! :3
Flying above the Research and Development Centre!
For the ultimate proof that this plane works, I should do a loop. ...Richby will be missed...
...That was easy.
I thought this would be harder... :/
Now that I've learned that the flip is simple, I want to push this plane to it's limits! Go! Supersonic triple screwdriver on collision course with the VAB! And Huzzah! He did it! (Almost died in the process, but hey!) I think I've but Richby through enough trials, so I'll attempt to land.
...The landing went great... heheh... ('._.)
You have seen nothing. D:<
It isn't like it started to tilt when I tried to steer a bit or anything... ;-; Anyway, Richby survived, so everything is fine! He didn't break any bones, (I think,) so he's fine to go on a test flight to the island base! Good for him!
To make sure he wouldn't shoot of the shorter runway of the island base, I'll install some airbrakes, specially for his health. (Nah, it's because the plane is expensive, and we don't have that much money in our budget... ;-; )
*A-team montage music*
There! Airbrakes installed! I even added some drogue parachutes and some science experiments, aren't I generous.
It's time for Richby to make a nice little return trip to the island base!
[Launch #4]
Aaand... take off! Going at super-sonic speeds right at the start! All goes well, until I try to steer to the side. The plane almost get's ripped apart... Luckily it didn't, so Richby will just have to git gud, and continue flying. He didn't seem too happy with all this...
On his way to the island!
I don't think this plane is very stable when yawing, because it always spins out of control when I do... Let me try that again... ("Nooooo!" cries Richby.)
Aha! I've found the problem! The airbrakes also activate when steering so I have more control, but in this case that does not seem to be true... I'm just going to turn them of, aaand, problem solved! Now I'm coming in for the landing. Oh snap, I'm not aligned. Oh well, I'll try to land anyway. :3
Coming in for the landing...
The braking systems work like a charm! drogue parachutes out, airbrakes open, this is the life... :3
Witness my prowess! >:3
Landing succesful! Huzzah for Richby!
Visiting some ancient artifacts.
While I was waddling around, I thought it was a good idea to visit the mountaintop, so I could jump of it, and slide down. While I was walking up
the hill I suddenly fell into the hill, and was under the ground. I don't think doing this was a good idea after all... Let's continue, because SCIENCE!
Eeyup, I fell through the floor again. *sigh* aand there is a sea under here... ...What. Yeah, I need another way to get to the top of that hill.
This stuff is like quicksand or something... D:
Well buck. I fell through again. *sighs even deeper*
Oh well, I'll just head home then. Depart! Also, I discovered something new. Don't open your airbrakes when flying super-sonic. All control will be lost. D:
I have decided! I will land this stuff in first person mode! M'gonna do it! Now! >:3
Aaaaand... landed it! It was close, but I managed to keep it straight somehow. :3
Richby Kerman has done well to survive my experiments, so he can join the Retired Test Subject Club. He deserves it. ;D
My plane clearly works! It can go fast, it can do tricks, it can do commercial flights, it's amazing! But it can't carry any cargo... We'll have to make a giant plane! Giant cargo plane! Hah HAH! I have an idea for the next episode, and I'm not even done with this one! Huzzah! With this, I can end the episode. Richby Kerman joins The Club, for a total of 2 members. They'll drink some nice appletini's, and play some pool.
Next time I'll make a cargo plane! (I've never actually succeeded with that though... ;-; Ah, I'll worry about that when the time comes. :3)
