Another thing that i hate people complain about is the fact, that they think that Rainbow Dash is arrogant. I think that there is a difference between arrogance and confidence. Rainbow dosen't strike me as a pony who is arrogant, because she can actually backup what she says and she isn't someone who rubs it in anybodys face. She just says that she is the best in what she does, because she has alot of confidence in herself and having confidence is nothing bad.

Does she have her bad moments, sure. But it dosen't make her a bad character overall. She is still my second fav (still love you twi.)

I like Rainbow, particularly as the season progress and I see more of her insecurities. I think all of these negative ideas of Rainbow were caused by the episode Mysterious Mare Do Well because it made Rainbow appear like she would ENDANGER others to prove something and get an ego boost. That was awful for her character development and like ability.

While I do think there's some truth to the saying that the most confident people are the ones who don't need to brag, that's actually part of why I find Rainbow so interesting. She has that need to be praised, but at the same time, like you pointed out, she's not actually malicious. And of course, she can indeed back up most of what she says

Honestly, I'm reluctant to even drop Mysterious Mare Do Well to the haters. This show does comedically over-the-top character moments all the time. They're meant to parody such reactions, not actually define the character. And I did think the arc she went through - bewildered by the praise, accepting it as everything she ever wanted coming true, having it yanked away, and finally learning that real fulfillment comes from showing real character and having real friends, not the shallow thrill of celebrity - worked pretty well.

Well I don't think the episode itself was a problem so much as how fans interrupted its meaning but the humor wasn't as good as say Lesson Zero at making it clear it was a gag.

Agreed. Aside from that I love when Rainbow Dash gets emotional or fan girly. It really endeared me to her. And her reaction in Tanks for the memories reminded me of her more feminine qualities. Tanks for the memories was better at making her over the top reactions come across as funny compared to Mare Do Well.

True, at least in the first half. (Tanks For the Memories is one of my favorite episodes of this season, but I did think it started to drag a bit in the second half.) I suppose Rainbow could be called a nice reminder that everyone's affected by their emotions.

Very true. Yeah the episode was a wee bit clunky like Giffonstone was for me.
