People Watching
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I love to watch people in public places. That's right, just sitting and watching people -- but not in a stalking way. Today at a mall, me and my family took a break from what we were doing and just sat down. I took the opportunity to just watch people that were going about their way. It's very interesting to see how people act and interact with each other. And you learn a lot about people and get to see into their lives -- even if only a glimpse. There is a saying that people wear their lives on their sleeves; from the clothes they wear, to how they talk, walk, and act around others. And it's true.
Why is people watching so interesting? I guess because I just care about people. When you go out side, just watch. Watch a father and his child walk hand in hand together; or a couple that's clearly in a rough patch even though they smile. And you just may see what I mean. If your a writer, you can get some of your best story ideas by just watching people. Sometimes we can get detached from others and get engrossed in our own lives; so just stop and look around you. Don't judge, just observe and take note of what you see. It has a way of making you appreciate people more and have more compassion for the struggles we all go through in a world that has caused people grow indifferent and distant from one another.
