Join the Pony.fm Alpha!

Twilight Sparkle ✨

I'm looking to build a dedicated quality assurance (QA) team to be Pony.fm's alpha testers and shape the site's direction in its earliest stages.

At this time, I'm looking for people who:

  • create (or have created) MLP:FiM fan music
  • are interested in uploading their fan music to Pony.fm
  • will report bugs they run into
  • will provide feedback on what's good, what isn't, and what's missing
  • enjoy trying new things!

QA staff will have access to a private forum where they can communicate directly with me and their fellow testers to share their experiences, request features, and directly influence the development of Pony.fm.

If you're interested in joining the QA team, let me know in a comment on this blog entry, send me a private message, or email me at feld0@mlpforums.com, and I'll add you to it.

I have a question.

I wish to somehow contribute my music to this site. Does it have to be somewhat good? My stuff may not really be that good compared to everypony else's... Heck, I use my PSP to make my songs.

Anyways, i'd love to help out with testing and all that noise.

Can I be a tester ?

As long as you make, or have made, FiM fan music, sure! Do you do that?

I answered your question on the Pony.fm discussion topic. :)

I am kinda an artist, here is my soundcloud ^^ : https://soundcloud.com/nightisallthesky

I would love to join pony.fm

I can do art and I can also DJ, I would like to join in on the fun... If that's ok with you?

Absolutely; thanks for your interest! Both of you are in the alpha team now!

I do have a few question questions; how will the functionality work on mobile, will there be rules restricting what you can upload (content wise, not file. If you need a clearer description I'm talking about the actual music itself not the kind of media), how will the "music listening function" work (i.e. automatically switches to a different song, you choose if you wish to play the song again or play a different song), and overall I'm curious about the layout (how everything looks, color scheme, fluidity, ease of access).

(Since the actual site dosen't give much info. besides “FLAC and WAV uploads ... Off-site sharing through an embedded player ... social experience not unlike deviantART's[.]” etc., and I'm to lazy to search for any of these answers, (which may or may not exist) I guess this is the place to ask.)

Can you please repost that comment in the Pony.fm discussion thread? I'll be happy to answer your questions there - I'd just like to draw a little more attention to the thread, and keep this blog post focused on the alpha testing initiative.

No programming experience is necessary or expected of any QA testers, Vicke. :) The primary purpose of QA testing is, in fact, to see how "mere mortals" do with the software.

As I said to Neikos, I'm currently looking for feedback from a focus group of artists who will (hopefully) end up uploading their music to Pony.fm. But I appreciate your interest and will let you know when the site is ready for QA work by listeners.

well, ive been chatting a little with BlackGryph0n, i can see if hes up for some of it. and also, will you be doing voice commercials? because i would definitively love to do that! and i would also love any position during the alpha tests and the full launch

If BlackGryph0n is interested, by all means put him in touch with me! Tell him to email me at feld0@mlpforums.com if he wants in on the alpha. :D

Voice commercials... in what sense? Putting commercials together for Pony.fm, or accepting uploads of commercials on the site?

I'm interested and probably, this could be a better place for my MLP game chiptunes than Youtube or Soundcloud.

Welp, I fulfill at the requirements, so I may as well ask to be an alpha tester. I have a couple songs I made that I'd love to post on the site, although I'm not really sure if I'm going to make any new ones.

Although i can understand the reasoning behind it for quality but i noticed that there's no uploading mp3's. One of the songs i have is only on mp3. What about an on the fly converter? I was lucky that my music program was able to convert my other song to .wav from the scource program that I used to create it. (might be able to do that with my other mp3.. hmmm...)

*note: I didn't get notified you quoted me like i should have.

and thanks for adding me!

Please post this in the Pony.fm forum, which you now have access to. We have a thread going there about MP3 uploads.

I am a lover of fan music. I do covers and I am a bit busy, but would love to try out the site. I have a few people that should be featured on the site. So, I could help get some good composers onto the site. But I would like to help in any way.
