Want a free Dota 2 loading screen for pre-ordering Final Fantasy Type-0 HD? Good, shut up, because that is exactly what Square-Enix is offering for pre-ordering the PC version!

And yes, this is legitimately a pre-order bonus for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on Steam.

Stop pre-ordering games. This should not be okay. This should never be okay.

I dunno; I wouldn't mind this too much myself if I was a fan. I mean if there was a similar deal for a Spyro game and it had a special loading screen as such I wouldn't mind preordering it if I thought it was worth it.

Well, it's purely cosmetic, doesn't hinder game balance, not even for the game in question and can still be classified as an exclusive pre-order bonus. In that sense, it's the best pre-order bonus ever, because it does absolutely nothing to incentivize purchase x)

While I get what you are saying, the value of a pre-order bonus like this is a subjective matter. As I'm not a FF fan this doesn't appeal to me,  but if a series I like did this I could see myself doing it.

Not all bonuses have to be substantial, IMO.

From a consumer's perspective, the best pre-order bonuses are ones that don't incentivize purchase. There's a pretty good reason why all this "Don't pre-order games" talk is going around, btw; because of things like this.

I usually only pre-order games that I'm really looking forward to. For example, I've pre-ordered Rainbow Six Siege.
