Japanese Word of the Day (JWD) ♪ ヘ(^o^ヘ)(ノ^o^)ノ ♪

Hello everyone! ^-^ As some of you may know, I have been studying Japanese for several years now. I haven't, however, been studying much this year; which has resulted in loss of vocabulary. For this reason, I created this blog to learn and keep track of new (and relevant) words on a daily basis; as well as to share them with you all! It's a win win! If you're studying Japanese as well -- or have a remote interest in the language -- I hope this helps in your language journey or ignites your interest in it! So without further ado...

民族、(みんぞく)、Minzoku

Race_FINAL_shea_walsh_web.jpg

いみ(meaning):Race, people, nation, or ethnic group.

れいぶん(example sentence): かれの民族は黒人です。 Kare no minzoku wa kokujin desu.

ほんやく(Translation): His race is African American.

If you have any questions about the language -- be it, grammar, studying tips, Kanji etc. -- feel free to ask down in the comments section or through PM. I'll be glad to help however I can! じゃあ、またね!^-^

is there any good free ways to learn japanese online?

Yes, Indeedy -- there are ^-^ This is from my personal experience, of course. First and foremost, the best free online source that I can recommend is Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese. This site is absolutely free; no strings attached. It's actually almost too good to be true, but it is. It covers basic Japanese all the way to advance. And there is an app for Itunes.

The next site that I used was Learn-Japanese. Aesthetically, it's not as nice nor as extensive as Tae Kim, but it's a great start. It teaches hiragana, katakana, kanji, beginner grammar, and vocabulary, among other things. I studied this site to death, before I moved on.

Another site is Maggie Sensei. This site focuses mainly on grammar, but it's really helpful. Albeit, the format can be a little hard on the eyes, but once you get past it, it's great.

Another source is not a site specifically for Japanese, per se; but it has everything. That's YouTube. You have to do a little searching, but once you come across the right person, you can learn a whole lot. Unfortunately, I can't remember who I used at the moment.

Lastly, I've heard that a site called Memrise is helpful as well. Although it is free, there are extra perks for having a premium account. Nevertheless, it seems like a great site. I just recently got an account myself and it looks very promising. I hope this helps! ^-^

I'm totally going to say this to my friend who's learning Japanese.

I'll probably just forget the word and remember it at 2am in the morning though! :P
