Hey everyone! Here is my Sleepless in Ponyville review, taken from the discussion thread. I'd prefer you share your own opinions there, but you can share them here if you really want to. Here it is:

Man, this episode... it was okay. I remember fearing that last week's episode, Magic Duel, was going to be laden with fan service... thank goodness it really wasn't. But this episode... it was all over the place. First off, I'm not really a Scootalove shipper, but I'm not against it. I think this episode might've had too much though, it was just too obvious for me. It wasn't a huge problem though, no, there were other problems- Rarity, while I love her with all my heart, was a total jerk here. I would have prefered some funny sequence where she overdramatacizes being against going, and while I suppose we got that, she decided to go anyway and take a bunch of crap and have Sweetie Belle drag it all for her... to me it was not funny at all, and strangely out of character. And we got teased about Scootaloo flying again! Instead of her flying herself, Dash was just holding her, never have I had such a short moment between squealing in delight and saying 'oh come on!' And then between the lame scary stories(one we've heard before!), Scootaloo's overreaction to them, and the bait and switch for another good Sweetie Belle song and instead whatever the heck she sang, I couldn't find a whole lot to love in this episode. But if there was one thing done right, it was Luna- this certainly explains why we don't usually see her! She's not gaming, she's entering and helping people with their nightmares! Although I can't help but think her appearance might have also been fueled by fan service, it was at least handeled well, and canonizes a rather beautiful thing to me, it's basically a new magical ability! They could potentially have dream-entering episodes now! So awesome. So yeah, all in all, while I did have problems with the episode, it wasn't all bad, and decently enjoyable. It was alright.

Man, Chigens hates Dash, you don't like Scootalove.

What kind of staff am I apart of :P

I don't dislike it! I found that image adorable enough to put it here. I just thought the episode was too blatant with it is all. ;)

Oh well, you're forgiven then, mostly :3

I didn't really think Rarity was out of character. That seemed completely in character for her and shows why I don't like her that much.

Anyway, I thought the episode was really cute. It was more of a comedy episode but it had a good character building. The ending was also quite sweet and adorable. <3

Shipping isn't really the term I'd use for Scootalove, but oh well. Rarity did seem a tad off in the episode but I found her negative moments were balanced out well enough by the positive scenes of her agreeing to go camping, and comforting Sweetie after the ghost stories. Some might take shots at her but I don't like her any less than I did before.

It's good to see a review from someone more objective than I am, and while I did enjoy the episode much more than you did you wrote a great review. My review of your review is very positive :)

For a new writer, Corey Powell did a pretty good job with it. It teemed with Batman Begins references as well as some A Nightmare On Elm Street (haha, get it? MARE? No? OK.)

Yeah, I just noticed that they had a new writer on this one- seems that he's pretty much only done preschooler shows before, but I can't help but think he might've done a little research into the brony fandom for this one, I guess he just might've wanted to leave a good impression. ;)

Pretty sure writers are forbidden from reading fan fiction and such, so I don't know what kind of research he'd be doing.

Yeah, you're probably right about that, just a thought.

I keep hearing people complaining about Rarity's behavior towards Sweetie Belle (and yes, the cart was a bit extreme), but to be fair, Sweetie Belle technically guilted, quite heavily, Rarity into going, and she KNEW she was guilting her into going; it was, more or less, insincere guilting.  So I really thought the cart was hilarious, simply because I just had to say to myself "Well Sweetie Belle, yeah, you kinda were asking for that".  Not with the guilting, mind you, but with Rarity coming along in general; she should've known Rarity would want to bring that much crap!  But that's one thing I love about their relationship; it never has been, nor ever will be, Applejack and AB.  Rarity and Sweetie Belle are still pretty much polar opposites, but now after "Sisterhooves Social," that doesn't matter!  They still find plenty of things to do together, and they enjoy each others company and love each other the whole time they're doing anything.  Plus, if I got to stay in a pimped out tent like that, I'd drag that cart in a heartbeat!!! :D

Yeah, I've always found their sibling dynamic somewhat relatable, what with them being close but different, and I guess she did sort of guilt her- I mean who could resist Sweetie Belle's begging? :)
