Star Wars The Force Awakens Review [NO SPOILERS]
Hello and welcome all, this is my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, or at least the spoiler free, light side edition, if you want to call it that. So, what did I think of it? I thought it was good. Not perfect, but very good, far better than the prequels. However, it is not without it's flaws, which I'll discuss in The Dark Side, Spoilery edition. There is, thankfully, more good than bad. All of the characters are wonderful and well cast, especially in the case of John Boyega as Finn and Daisy Ridley as Rey, who are perfect for the roles and interact wonderfully together. Harrison Ford as Han Solo is perfect once again, and it's wonderful to see him in the role again in a Star Wars film for the first time since 1983. Peter Mayhew also returns as Chewbacca and is fantastic, not to mention Carrie Fisher's excellent performance as General Leia, who's return is more than welcoming.
The story of The Force Awakens is one I'm not going to spoil for anyone, and talk about in my Dark Side version, but what you need to know is it is very reminiscent of A New Hope and towards the end a small dose of the last twenty minutes of The Empire Strikes Back. The battles are also spectacular and the practical effects are amazing, and what CGI is used is effective and works well, as it makes it look as though it's really there, and I can't really tell if something is CGI or practical, especially in the case of the TIE Fighters and X-Wings. All I can say is, if you are going to see the film, I'm sure you will enjoy it, and when you've seen it, be sure to check out my Dark Side version, where I spoil the plot rotten and talk about the bad!
