(inb4 you're a WWE shill)

This is something i wanted to talk about for awhile, ever since it came to Germany, after 2 years of waiting. The WWE Network, that ever since it's release, has gathered some mixed reactions. Is it good? Does it suck? Do i care? Let's look at it.

First of all, the first thing you notice once you get on the first time, is being greeted by a livestream channel, kinda like a WWE channel if you want. They mostly show the newest content on the network, or the newest episodes of Main Event, Superstars and most importantly, NXT. It's a nice little feature to watch things life like NXT, but the real heart and soul of the Network, lies in its video on demand service.

First of all there is the PPV folder, where you got all the WWE PPVs available, from the current Royal Rumble, all the way to the first Wrestlemania. Even very unknown once like This tuesday in Texas or Capital Carnage (which you only get in Europe) and even controversial once like Over the Edge 99.
Not just that, you also get all the old WCW and ECW PPVs. So if you want, you can relive the excitement of WCW Starcade 97 one more time, or the Extreme Awesomeness of ECW Heatwave 98. ;)

If you go to the Shows folder, there is a in ring section. In it you'll find Raw and Smackdown replays. You find all the current shows and even the older shows. You can even watch the first Raw from 1993. So if you want, you can go through the history of Raw and Smackdown, even if it's not complete yet. You also find NXT, Superstars and main event shows there.

Then we got the original folder. It's filled to the brim with original shows, documentaries and other stuff. Some of the content is certainly hit and miss. I for one can't stand Total Divas, because it reminds me too much of one of those Reality TV shows i saw back on MTV. I rather look up the documentaries, like "Breaking the code: Chris Jericho" or "CM Punk: Best in the World" Originals are hit or miss, but there is certainly something in there you enjoy.

Last but not least, there is the Vault Folder. You find various shows, from various promotions in there, especially old shows from the territory era, like WCCW, JCP and Mid-South Wrestling. But you can also find the old WCW Monday Nitro shows on there. 99 and 2000 are still missing, but the best time is already covered there. You can also find the old WWF Saturday nights main event shows (which i watch right now) and even the old WWF MSG and Boston Garden shows from the 70s and 80s. For Wrestling like me, it's a dream come true.

The question is, is it worth 9.99? Well, it depends what kinda guy you are and what you want from the Network. For me, absolutely. For the last 3 weeks, i had a blast watching all the old stuff from my childhood and also watch things i haven't seen yet. But also being to watch them in the best quality is just wonderful. I admit, that the current product has indeed it's problems, but i can't just say no, to this great offer.

What do you think? Did you get the Network? Are you not interested?

I was a bit sketchy of the Network at first, because I honestly didn't see how they'd manage to run it without completely screwing over their TV PPV deals with various other channels. Also, I really wasn't fond of them pushing it into your face literally ever 10 minutes. Plus the initial $9.99 a month (with a six month commitment) on the small print made it sound like it wouldn't have really been worth as much as they were claiming.

But having tried it for free month trail period they're currently offering, I have to say I'm impressed. The amount of content you get for the price is actually quite staggering. Asides from having access to almost every PPV in the company's history, as well as those from WCW and ECW, there is a truck load of exclusive documentaries and side series on availability too. It really is the one stop shop for everything a wrestling fan of the last 3 or 4 decades could want I believe.
