Today I attended the commencement ceremony that declared me an official graduate from my university, and given that this is kind of a big deal, I thought it might be a good time to share some thoughts on the last four years of my life.

 

There are a few things that have stayed the same. I'm still with my partner, the animal kingdom still ranks high on my list of interests, and I still like watching My Little Pony and other cute and nerdy series. For each thing that stays the same though, something else seems to have changed. In the time that I've been in college I've moved away from home, begun to work through my Anxiety and build my self esteem, and even changed my name (though not legally... yet). I've become a kinder, braver, stronger person, who's learned more about the world than she ever thought she would know, and who's done things that she had always believed she would be too afraid to do.

 

I also joined a forum for fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I became an avid RolePlayer, wrote stories for contests, and rose up the staff ranks all the way to Team Leader of my favorite section. I've talked to so many different people, and I've made so many wonderful friends. As simple and trivial as such an act may be, I can honestly say that I would not be the same person I am today, had I not chosen to create an account on this forum.

 

So I want to thank you, all of you, for everything that you've done for me. Through this place you have taught me to be more honest, kind, generous, joyous, and loyal, and you have shown me the magic of friendship in a way that I had never seen it before. I know that I will continue to change and grow as I approach this new chapter in my life, and I will walk towards these changes unafraid, knowing that even as my life changes I will still have a community full of people who care about and support me to come home to.

Elo, I consider you one of my closest friends; ever. To see the person you have grown to be, the person you have strived to be, leaves me with nothing but pride. As I have always said you are a strong individual with a big heart, and I fully believe the future is ever bright for you.

Congratulations on your graduation Elo. :)

 

In the last 4 years, you seem to have gone through quite a good change. I also kinda did in the last 5 years, since i joined the fandom. Not as big as you, but still. Could have something to do with the fandom, or just a sign of the time. But whatever it is, i am glad we both changed for the better. :)

 

Whatever you might do after the graduation, is up to you now. Remember, the future is yours to make. :) *Big Lamiahugs*

You've been exerting yourself to support us just as much as we did with you. And there's a nothing bur remarkable cluster of individuals that will, without any doubt, reassure you that you've given just or even more than what you've received.

It'd be superfluous to mention that I knew you'd grow into a stronger person in little time. I'm elated that I was a witness of such benign development, and I'm certain that I'm not the only one who noticed it.

 

All in all, (and even if I said so a gazillion times already) congratulations Ely, and thank you for being here with and for us.

We don't converse much, but I notice you putting a helluva lotta work into helping both this forum and yourself. Some of it is subtle, some upfront. You changed a lot over your two years here, and you've become a better person.
