Is out-of-town an excused absence from school?

My cousin in Chicago will get married in late September, so they invited me and my family to their wedding and I will be out-of-town for at least 5 days (Wednesday, September 27, 2017 late evening - Monday, October 2, 2017 late evening) and will miss 3 school days (Thursday, September 28; Friday, September 29; and Monday, October 2), because my mom did booked a flight to Chicago on that day. But I want to attend all the school days of the school year!

However, when I go out-of-town (on vacation), I will ask you in this blog entry that going out-of-town should be an excused absence from school. Does that mean that going out-of-town is an excused absence from school? Explain in comments below.

Maybe. My school wouldn't have accepted it, though. They only ever accepted being out of town if it was for a funeral. We'd have been expected to miss weddings. Maybe American schools are different, though. In my school, if any weddings were on, people claimed to be ill, instead.
