Back to... high school?

This is going to be one of those posts that are too personal for a thread and too long for a status update.

Some might call me "man-child" or "immature" for liking a show originally intended for kids, but I took it to a whole new level by being a 24 year old who goes to high school.

Little bit of explaination to that: In short, I dropped out at 16 after being forced to go to a school I simply hated with all of my soul. I went to another one next year then dropped out again in hopes of getting a job after my family started having severe financial issues. Oh I did get a couple of jobs, alright, but most of them were part-time, short term or otherwise unreliable jobs that didn't allow me to do much more other than "hand over half my paycheck to my parents, save some for myself, spend some on something nice". No matter how hard I tried, I simply couldn't find any proper job, unfortunately. Youth unemployment rate being well over 40% in my city (and that's not counting student who aren't looking for a job) isn't exactly encouraging either.

After years of crap jobs and unemployment, I decided to go back to high school. Fortunately enough, some school do hold classes at night aimed at people like me. They're essentially the same as regular highscool, except the average age of its students is much higher (more than half my class is older than 25 and we have a 50 year old lady in class).

This led to two things.

First one is finally having something constructive to do everyday. Even when I was working, I never knew if I was going to work the next day or not. But, of course, I'm always going to go to school until the day I graduate, so I can plan accordingly. I also have objective data (grades) I can track to know what I'm doing right or wrong, without having to read my boss' body language or compare myself to my colleagues as it happened in the past.

Second... I bloody got a life again. I recently moved to a new city and, as you can probably tell, it's hard to find friends without a job. The social circle I had was torn apart after something like 4 guys took some romantic interest on the same girl (and you know how that kind of stuff ends) and I hadn't found a new one ever since. Considering most people in class are around my age and pretty friendly, I can go back to being the good ol' social butterfly I was instead of a bloody emotional wreck I used to be. Not to mention it allows me to not use the internet exclusvely for social interaction which, let's be honest, is a massive relief. Being able to talk to people without running into heated debates about politics, random insults tossed around in the name of free speech and people making fun of everything you enjoy let me restore my faith in humanity.

And well, that's it.
