Comic Fest Day 3: I don't need no Stinkin Ethics

As of today, the San Diego Comic Fest is once again over.

My only panels that I went to involved the following

1) Comic-Con in 1977: Back before I Was born, Comic-Con was a really cheap place to get into.  Cheaper than Comic Fest and especially cheaper than today's Comic-Con(Yeah.   I'm looking at you $300 Convention for four days).  IT wasn't as huge as today's Comic Con, but I heard there was plenty to do at the El Cortez Hotel.

I also heard that back in 1980, Comic-Con got in trouble because of its Programming booklet that contained a topless woman

2) Drawing in 30 minutes: The host of this panel demonstrated how to do quick drawings of a UFO, a Fish and a Dragon.  While he was overenthusiastic, it did help me with my drawing confidence(Especially with Whisper sketch)

3) Floyd Norman: Mark Evanier explores the life of former Disney and Hanna Barbera animator: Floyd Norman.  He's a regular at the Comic Fest(And Comic-Con) at the age of 80.  Some of his work includes Sleeping Beauty, the Jungle Book, Toy Story 2, Jabberjaw, the Super Friends, Garfield and Friends, Beverly Hills Teens and even Courage the Cowardly Dog.  He's really fond of modern technology like computers, tablets and the Wacom Cintiq, and he(Along with Mark) got to see some of my Political Artwork(He and Willie Ito aren't fond of Donald Trump)

With this, Comic Fest is now over for the year.  My purchases?  A set of documentaries involving Movie Monster stars like Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi(Signed by Sara Karloff), and a Vacuum Metallized LEGO Deadpool figure.

My next convention is confirmed to be the BIG ONE: San Diego COmic-Con.  As there will be a My Little Pony panel there, here's hoping that the crew brings in Maurice LaMarche for the panel.
