( Essay inspired by "Faith and the Force of Others Order of the Pulsar Document")

Just my ruminations on the Force and the path that we all walk

The Force is generally left for the individual Jedi to define. But why is this? Because the Force, if it exists as any sort of entity with a will, would speak to us all in an individual way. A way that is suited to our own understanding and self-betterment. The will of the Force, if it exists, would set us on the path that is best for us and for the natural order as a while. Thus we would have different paths and variations of doctrine and expression even within those paths. So does this mean that all paths are an expression of the Force in some manner? Yes. How do we find the Force in the faith of others then becomes the question? The answer is to ask the right questions.

To the Christian, you must ask “ From what does all existence spring? ”

To the Taoist, you must ask “ What is it that once named is not its true self? “

To the Buddhist, you must ask “ What is the perfect state of knowledge and infinite compassion? “

To the Wiccan, you must ask “ What created the law of return? “

To A Sikh you must ask “ From what doe spring and to what do we return? “

Each path is an expression of the Force. Each person expresses their path and nature as they understand it to be. Just as no one can see the entire universe no one person can understand the whole of the Force. So we see it in the bits that we are capable of seeing it and that is the path we walk. A Chrisitan is no less expressing the Force when they go to church then a Jedi is when the meditate or a Wiccan is when they draw down the moon.

We all walk the path as we are meant to and express our understanding in the ways that we are able. None of it can be said to be wrong as none of us can say what the Force whispers to another. To try is akin to saying that my idea of forest green is the true form of green whereas your idea of green as lime green is heresy.

So why then do we have so many paths? Why bother being a Jedi when a Chrisitan is just as much a child of the Force and expressing this fact just as truly. That is like asking why we are drawn to particular flavors or activities. Sure we can say we enjoy them or they make sense to us or that we have skill in them. But those are only found after we partake of them. What draws us in the first place? It is something we would struggle to express but have all felt.

We are drawn to what we need or what the Force needs of us. We can fight it and often find ourselves feeling lost along the road. It is sort of like the fact that we can ignore the fastest route to where we want to go but all we do is waste gas along the way. But then there is something to be said for scenic detours. So maybe even those wanderings are fated to bring us better equipped to where we are most needed.

In short, we can all define the Force as we wish because it speaks to us each on the level that we are able to understand and in the terms that will make the most sense. There are many paths that the Force has us walk and none of them are wrong. It is the journey and actions we take along it that matters not the final destination which we might not ever be able to understand even when we get there. So walk your path no matter what title you chose as you walk it. Because it's exactly where you are meant to be.
