Review of Last Crusade

I know hate is a strong word, but I seriously hate Scootaloo's parents. They single hoofedly ruined what could have been a great finale to the series long story arc of the CMCs. The episode was a bit of a throwback to when the CMCs would do everything and the kitchen sink to get their cutie marks and then find the message with their cutie marks. Scootaloo's aunts were a great addition to the episode, a sort of calming voice for this episode. The ending was certainly the mark of the end of the series, with the town and others showing great appreciation for the CMCs. But, Scootaloo's parents absolutely killed this episode for me. The CMCs were great throughout the entire episode, and the ending was great with the town showing their appreciation for the three fillies.

My grade: C

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it as much as I did. For me, it was one of the highlights in the first half of season 9. Definitely one of the most emotional episodes in the whole series for me (some of the scenes were just heartbreaking). Unlike some others, I've always liked the CMC episodes, but I'd go as far as to say this is my all-time favorite of those.

It was great to finally see Scootaloo's family (both her parents and aunts)! Also some nice appearances from past characters like Skeedaddle (I wish Kettle Corn had appeared too). But the emotional effect of some scenes was what truly made it great for me. I'd give it a rare rating of 10/10. :pinkie:

If the parents were written in a more logical, thought out way, then it would have been a great episode. As is, her parents were aloof of her impact on Ponyville, and that really pissed me off. Otherwise, I'd say it was a great throwback to the early seasons CMC episodes.
