Episode 43 - Asymmetrical AC Plugs

Hey.  Y'know what really grinds my gears?  When an AC plug has the asymmetrical tines where one if fatter than the other so you can only plug it in one way.  Why the hell the gotta do that?!!  Yeah, I know, I know: (*mocking voice*) "Maybe if you did some research and learned why, then you wouldn't have to come here and whine about it!"

:P  Yeah, I know, I know: it's called polarized, and I don't frickin' care.  I don't care why they do it!  It's f*ckin' annoying!  And here's the reason I find it so stupid: my brand new Xbox One is NOT polarized.  The ac plug is symmetrical. Both small tines, so you can plug it in either way.  If a brand new, high end, power hogging gaming console doesn't need to be polarized, then why does a Nintendo Wii?  Or a f*cking LAMP?!  Huh?!  Seems to me like things don't really need to be polarized, so why can't they quit making stuff like that?!  :baconmane:  The only reason I gripe about it is because sometimes you have to twist the cord around and kinda force it and stress the cord in order to get the plug the right way.  This goes back to my earlier entry, Cables Want to Go the Wrong Way.  Lousy pisa crap.

I used the "shocked" reaction. Get it? You really have to be careful if you have electronics from other countries. I have a Japanes DVD player that fits into a US outlet, but the voltage is wrong. I have to use a transformer.
