Artists have always been good, they improve the culture of humanity and of the people that chose to see their art. However, I have seen several problems with them nowadays.

Lets begin with a simple fact, an artist won't get recognized that easily, in fact, you are either Da Vinci or no one.

There are people who don't have any kind of skill but most are in the middle and are great at what they do. But no one will look at your work if they don't know you previously, but how will they know you if you just began?

We can picture what I am saying with, for example, brony musicians. I've seen some who have made a song, posted a pony image for background and there you go: "brony song"

Why? To generate views of course. Being standalone wouldn't help them so they just decided to make their "art" based on the fandom so that more people would be interested in their work.

Another problem with brony musicians presicely, I've seen a lot of "being proud for being a brony" or "we are the best" kind of songs. I suppose its either an answer to haters or (though I doubt it) to help these people ashamed of being part of us. If its the former I have a problem with it, because those songs while catchy most of the time are bad and the fact that we don't have to counterattack haters. 

Our situation isn't (or was, I think society has accepted us at some level) like with gay and black people who have homophobes and racists respectively who are literally attacking them, we only have (or had, I don't know) a couple of minor idiots who are just saying that we're weird or bad or whatever, they ain't attacking us. I don't think we have the right to do those kinds of songs since we don't have real problems which threaten our existence.

If its the latter then they have a point.

Another problem, quality.

With social media and internet giving space for everyone to post their talent some people have aquired a way of letting themselves know more or less, this is a double edge though, since it makes untalented people also able to post their work.

FiMfiction is proof. I may even be part of the problem I am depicting. 

Many stories are good, you can't expect them to be as good as a writer like Tolkien but they are still very good. Many more are bad and awful to read. (There was a brony who dedicated to read bad stories lol)

Making it easier to show your talent has filled the internet with trash is the point.

I was just speaking my mind about artists nowadays, nothing special. I feel empty in a way though, about this.
