My beef with the "soccer Mom's" is that they really didn't give Derpy much of a chance to be anything other than what you have described simply because most of them over reacted by wanting Derpy to be canned completely instead of coming up with constructive suggestions on how to maybe find a better way to portray Derpy.

Lots of fans like her including me, and that is why she got a speaking role in the first place, could they have done it better? Yes, they could have I didn't like her voice either not because I found it offensive but because I felt it didn't fit her character. Yes lazy eyes is not a mental disability but as I have said before many times Derpy is a huge opportunity to reach out to people that are seen as different whether they have a disability or not.

Alot of Derpy fans especially disabled ones are angry because they see people claiming to speak for them yet nobody seems to bother to ask their opinion on this. As an individual with Autism I have been called stupid and retard before even though I am not, so I understand that feel like and I am sure many other Derpy fans that fit this category do as well.

As for Derpy being mentally challenged, I agree she shouldn't be portrayed as a stereotype but I have no objections to her being portrayed as being disabled in fannon if done right. I myself have a fanfic idea for Derpy that has been going around in my head and in it I might portray her as being Autistic but whether I do or not though I will make it clear that it has nothing to do with her lazy eyes and the overall theme will be the same being that people who are different should be given the same respect as everyone else.

And I really don't think Rainbow Dash's reaction to Derpy was intended to be offensive, Rainbow Dash was clearly frustrated as even the most understanding person would be in a situation like that. So long as you don't do anything like you did in that one Derpy thread where you said all Derpy fans make death threats than you shouldn't get in too much trouble. For the record I got warning points for my response to that statement though I think they went easy on me because it was my first and hopefully last offense.

looking back at it Hasbro went too far with the editing..... some of the ones who complained may have been for the misconception that derpy was an attack on the mentally challenged, but bronies did not help in this matter practicly making it the only acceptable truth in the fannon and after all the back lash, its easy to see why she was scraped from the show completely. yet well follow the same road of you all being self righteous as if there isn't the slightest gray area to it all...... because hey bronies can't possibly be in the wrong for being mean and vial towards others

It did sound like it so you could understand why there may have been a misunderstanding there, but there really is no point in arguing about that anyway. As for people having a misconception about Derpy being retarded, it is one thing to have concerns and that I can understand it is just this off with her head attitude that those who filed the complaints had that piss me off. There are constructive and destructive ways to respond to things and that was extremely destructive.

What makes it even more maddening is that most of the people who filed the complaints aren't even fans of the show so they don't even understand the situation yet make an automatic judgment that Hasbro is involved in some kind of conspiracy to have a laugh at mentally challenged peoples expense.

once again you are misinformed because i complained and i know other fans who did too, so was the point i made that RD's attitude combined with the word derpy (which has no true mean but is often used as a replacement for dumb and stupid) destructive criticism

I have contemplated suicide twice in my life so as much as I dislike you (trust me this is an improvement because after that incident I despised you) even I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on you so I am sorry that happened to you. I never said bronies were always right or tried to excuse the ones that went a bit far with things like death threats or telling people to kill themselves and while there may have been some other fans that have complained you can't deny that they are in the minority.

I think Ditzy Doo should be treated with respect shes the bg pony to gather a huge following of fans, but its followed with the false hood that she is mentally challenged now when the truth is she has a lazy eye and is just a little bit ditzy.

True, but neither should the majority be ignored simply because the minority is louder. Derpy being retarded is common in fanfics I won't deny that but it is not the only portrayal I have also seen her portrayed as slightly clumsy and having walled eyes but not that much different from most other ponies. And in some fanfics she is even portrayed as being fairly intelligent, in the fanfic idea I mentioned earlier that is how I will portray her and in another fanfic idea I have where Equestria is plunged into an inflationary depression thanks to a duplication spell being used to duplicate money being overused she along with Applejack and Zecora will be the voices of reason.
