The BronyDoc...

blog-0192277001359025749.jpgIt was amazing.

Recently I've started to lose faith in the fandom, I felt as if it was becoming more and more inhabited with stupid people, people that haven't the slightest on how to act, especially online. I was seeing these dumb comments on youtube that were saying "Bronies will take over and you will become one" or "Embrace Bronies because we will rule the internet eventually", stuff like that, word for word, just makes me feel bad about our fandom, and yesterday one of my best friends told me that he was seeing a lot of dumb Bronies on TF2 himself. Now he doesn't have anything agianst Bronies personally but just agianst stupid people, like me, and he knows I'm a Brony and he's cool with it, but even he could tell Bronies are not what they used to be, they aren't as amazing as they used to be. I felt like there were only saints that weren't subject to stupidity in our fandom.

But that all changed a few minutes ago.

I watched the documentary, and it made me remember this last summer, it made me remember what our fandom is all about, it made me remember why I even became a brony in the first place, not because of the show, but because of the people.

The amazing people that make up our fandom, the creative Bronies, the kind Bronies, the fun-loving Bronies, the good and wonderful people that are, Bronies.

Thanks to all the people that made BronyDoc, my faith in the fandom has been restored :')

Most of the time I have run into statements about bronies ruling the internet they were intended as jokes though I can see why people can get the wrong idea about them. ThoughI am not going to deny that there is a small minority of bronies that push a little too hard to expand the herd I don't let them get to me I just continue enjoying the show and all the great things that this fandom has created and contribute a few creations of my own.

Well as a joke it's far from funny and most people will get the wrong idea, that is what bothers me.

Yeah i get this feeling sometimes too as new people come in and lose track of how to act and how to represent. That we're slowly losing any sense of community. You would think a show that bring morals and ethics to the forefront of the show would have fans that would always echo those ideals but that doesn't always happen.Still i think for the most part we as whole really do share some great ideals and such warmth to each other and it's important that we don't forget what we share. :)

I just wanted to chime in and say I totally know how it feels to have a fandom get yanked out from under you like that.  I'm a (mostly lurking now) member of the furry fandom as well, and I can definitely say it's not what it used to be.

If your first instinct when you see "I'm a furry" is to cringe and go "Ewww!", that's exactly why I'm not active there anymore.  In my opinion, the fandom got taken over about ten years ago by a pretty loud, outspoken group of teenage goths and emos, as well as quite a few people who had no qualms about parading about in ... well, almost nothing, really.  These people were largely responsible for bringing furries into the mainstream, and the fandom frankly deserves at least part of the bad reputation it got as a result.  I'm sad to see what happened to it, but eventually I gave up on it and decided to distance myself from it.

I'm a bit dismayed to see something similar happening to the Brony fandom - I just discovered MLP:FiM recently and decided to embrace the fan culture, but I'd rather not have to battle the "outspoken morons" to enjoy it.

Just some thoughts from someone who's been there.
