blog-0085819001346687190.pngWell, this is my first-ever proper Pixel-By-Pixel project,

It's a simple picture of an OC...I'm not sure what or who it is or anything, I was just messing about when the ideas came.

Recommendations for eye colour?

Also, style?

Please, point out any, And I do mean ANY, points for improvement, be it colour, form, shading, future-plans, Etc.

I'm hoping to have a few more pieces uploaded soon, including the development stages of this piece, mainly so I can use it for reference.

Disregard all the below, It's just notes to myself,

Notes: What the hell is up with that body? Something seems a bit off...Work on it: Find ref. pic./ using Twi?

Any base body, roughly similar.....

Horn?

Re-colour.....Earthen? - IS EARTHEN.

Fix, Fat PC, Re-install XP, find hidden partition, boot with slave drive/master drive corrected....

Use Paint.NET on Desktop, fine-up, fix edges, soften hardlining.

Proportions: Is this closer? blogentry-6743-0-33109200-1346707341_thumb.png I'm trying to find a decent guide for them, some people said that this drawing had mostly correct props.

I'd definitely suggest practicing your pencil drawing skills before attempting pixel art or oekaki, or anything digital at that rate -- the anatomy of your pony is way off. Practicing with a pencil is a good way to start, since it's easier to get something finished in a shorter amount of time when practicing. Two other things: I'd work on your general art skills before attempting ponies, and read some intros to color theory -- your colors are saturated, and have no hue shifting nor contrast between shades other than a change in value.

Thanks, like, a lot!

really, that's the first time anyone's been so useful,

I'll improve if I can, try'n my best.

The colour saturation isn't my fault though, paint likes acting up..

Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

You have a lot more control with your colors than you think. Pixel art probably gives you the most control of your colors than any other media, really. Think about it, there are 16 million+ possible colors (i.e. 256x256x256) you have access to. It just takes a little know-how to decide which colors are best to use. I don't think I've heard of image-editing software that doesn't give you that many color choices.

Also, I would avoid having your shading hug very closely with the edges of your shapes as shadows can easily cover much larger areas, depending on light source of course. Look at the moon for example...

I hadn't realized that....And I've been using Paint since I was a li'l kid (Not as well though.)

As for shadowing, that's just how I do it I guess, It needs a lot of improvement, which every helpful comment (Like this & before) gives.

I will work on shading, I have a fair amount of practice-shade pieces but they are nothing like this.
