Equestria Girls - Film thoughts (My opinions less of a review)

So, being a UK brony I had to wait a fairly long time before I could see a decent version of the film of youtube (I decided to wait until I had a good copy to see before I gave my opinions on it) and for the most part I have not seen anything about the film apart from a few adverts that where on reddit.

Before the film thoughts:

When I first heard about the film I think my initial reaction was one of being a little excited but also very nervous. I have never been one for humanized ponies, and although I always wanted a MLP film the fact that it was going to be set in a human world didn't get me going. Despite this I still really wanted to see the film, after all, they made 3 great seasons and some of those had pretty controversial finales that everyone thought would suck and where totally awesome (S2's springs to mind).

First Impressions:

The way the first parts of the film went where very good. The story and the characters where brought in nicely and the whole pony world to human world lore was very nicely done and easy to digest. The humanized versions of the ponys where very good and seeing everypony as a human character did give me a bit of a rush as we went from place to palce seeing them all.

The story:

The story does is not amazingly initiative or new in any way. It borrows what alot of past films have done from within this genera, and yes you can easily say it was very "cliché". It borrows a lot of common girly chick flick esc themes. Despite this, the fact that it is basically the characters we all know and love and uses some new unique to MLP references and devices to make it different enough to watch and enjoy. Just like the show, it never approaches being to girly (although I will admit it is more stereotypical in what they do then the show) to be watched and enjoyed by all.

The songs where good, as well but maybe not as good as the show songs for me.

The ending was a lot better then I expected (a little bit off when no one seems to realise whats going on and seems to think its normal but w/e).

Final thoughts:

Overall it's a good film, that can be enjoyed by all (although I think outside of people who have watched the show it will be hard to watch for those outside of the targeted demographic). I will probably watch it multiple times over the next few years.

If I had to give it a score out of 100 then I would say 65/100, while having a very predictable story line it is still fun to watch and has some great funny moments and holds true, overall, to the original character design and flow of the TV show despite being a film.
