  1. 1. Is leaving a fandom, of any kind, really that bad?

Hey guys. Now, for some of you who may have know, there's a bit of commotion going on in the fandom about people leaving the Brony community. Some are leaving because of the recent controversies that has been going on, others are leaving because of the poor choices of other bronies, and others are leaving simply because they feel like it's time to move on. As I seen from the internet, a lot of people have been worried about the fandom's existence. Questioning whenever or not the fandom is dying.

And to be quite honest, here's my two cents: I'm not worried at all. Leaving the fandom isn't all that bad.

If someone wants to leave a fandom or don't want to be classified as a fan nickname anymore (Whovian, Trekkie, Brony, etc.), then that's fine. I won't try to stop them from leaving the fandom or term. Joining something, whatever it may be, isn't just a one-way street as some may think it is, it's ultimately up to the choice of whoever is in this type of situation.

So what's your opinion on it, do you think that leaving a fandom is really that bad, or are you fine with someone departing one?

I hate it when people make a big deal out of it. Why can't people just see MLP as a simple cartoon? Why do people have to take the brony label so seriously?

If you like the show, you like it, if you don't, you don't. It should be that simple

You don't know how much I agree with you.

If you like it, that's cool. If you don't like it, that's cool too.

It's your life, not mine. I have no authority over your decisions.

Hmm...well if they want to leave the fandom, I see no problem with it because it's their choice whether they stay or not. Though it does astound me how people would want to leave something they really love, I don't put my two cents in it...(unlike some people).
Frankly, one of these days we will find something else to hype about when MLP is over though the thought of it makes me sad....so either way, everyone is going to leave the fandom at some point. Why do people make a big deal out of it? I guess we'll never know.

It really is up to the individual. No matter, how we try to kid ourselves this fandom only has a finite lifespan. If they decide to leave the fandom, who are we to try and stop them. Almost everyone will move away from the fandom eventually, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it while it's still here.

Not at all. Most people eventually loose interests of certain fandoms, and that's fine. But, you know what's not fine? When they make a big deal out of it, that part is rather annoying. But, no, leaving the fandom is perfectly fine and is not that bad as it's made out to be.

You can't "leave" a fandom. You can only have your interest decline, maybe to the point where you no longer feel an affection towards it. That creates a sense of estrangement. It's a natural process; the brony fandom is a hit, but beyond the bricks it's nothing to get ballistic over. There is nothing to fret over either if that interest has ridden its course. It's only a matter of time, really.

You pretty much summed my thoughts as well.

Whatever decision they make, it's up to them and their responsibility.

I can understand if your not interested, but when it's others opinions and rants that get to you, that's when I think your a bit stupid because it's entitled to their opinions rather than yours.

In the end, I'm not worried at all either, whatever happens, I'll be a big fan in the end.
