First (Real) Blog: 'The Chill Brony'

So that pineapple thing was just a test, and this is my actual first blog. I'm bored, and want to write about stuff. Sooo~, let's get started, I guess.

I feel like I'm the only "chill brony" out there, if that makes any sense at all. Sure, I like the show, and admit that it's become my newest obsession, but I just feel like others take it WAY farther than I would ever take it, and that I'm relatively alone in the fandom. There are people out there that over-analyze every single detail about the show. There are people that squeal like pigs every time a pointless background character shows up for a split second. There are people that viciously fight over "best pony" and defend the candy-colored horse like it's their mother. There are people that come up with ludicrous theories, and write long fan-fictions trying to back up their theory.

Meanwhile, I'm just here like, "That was a good episode. I think I'll watch another next week."

I'm not saying I have a problem with the fandom, and I'm also not saying that I certainly am the only "chill brony" out there, but it certainly feels like it, and it's been on my mind for a while.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Anyways, I have no idea how to do this. Until next time~!

I'm definitely a "chill brony" like you.

I just watch the episodes every week, and maybe give a bit of my thoughts on them, but that's it.

It's nice to know you're not alone in the world.

I do agree , esspecialy when people fight over best pony, everyone has their favorite for their own reasons, but to fight over them takes it a bit far. Abd fan fics well tgat goes too far for me, I just wanba watch the show and come here and chat with people that also like it

I really have been working on some of the ways I handled certain areas of the show and Brony community (Being unnecessarily defensive of my best pony is the big one.) But I don't feel a need to fix certain aspects of how I address the show.

I'm like I am about Rarity because I have fun with it, and it makes me happy to be like I am on the subject.

There isn't a right or wrong way to view the show, Rin :D

Right and wrong. Black and white. Yin and Yang... Where am I going with this?

I never said there was a right or wrong way to view the show. I just said I feel different :I

Sort of. I enjoy analyzing and deeply discussing the show like many people, but the problem you're getting at is still perfectly visible to me, as well.

I feel that way too many people can't sit down for new episodes and just let themselves enjoy it. They instead need to look for plot inconsistencies and analyze and look for things that could have been done better or that are or aren't this, that or the other thing, right off the bat, and don't even allow themselves to enjoy the simple fact that time, effort, emotion and dedication was put into this animated thing that we as fans are honored to be able to enjoy.

In short, they can't enjoy things purely from face value. Analyzing and getting into detail and things is fantastic, but way too many people can't turn that off, ever. I feel like its' those people who are more libel to be ones who become pessimistic about episodes in general, too. When you don't let yourself just enjoy something from a kids perspective, from a pure fans perspective, you're just going to build up equal or more negative things from episodes than positives.

Thank you for explaining it much better than I. I'm really tired, and I don't English very well when I'm drowsy :v

I wholeheartedly agree. Some people just can't be happy with what they have. They're always wanting more. It's like that song from The Little Mermaid. You have a bunch of cool things that any fish would kill for. Stop being a spoiled brat!!

Ummm....

Well, it did come across as having a different meaning, when I first read through it.

Kinda like how you seemed to think the only one I cared about was Rarity -_-

Meh. If that's the case, I'll retract the last sentence of my comment. I still stand by the rest of what I said, though.

Well, that's just an vague observation. You always seem worried about how they portray her, and go so far as to say you hate an entire season because you feel she wasn't portrayed well.

I honestly didn't see it, but that's just me.

Yup :) The over-analyzing and stuff should ideally be something one does down the line, after they sit down, and enjoy new episodes. Something you do to kill time between episodes, and while you're off-season. It's not something you should be doing as you're watching an episode. You're not really being a fan, you're then just being a critic. It's not your job to pick something you're supposed to be enjoying, apart, so why do it? It's not about being 'right', it's about having fun.

IMO, if you cannot sit down and just enjoy something you're supposedly a 'fan' of without picking it apart and all that, you've already failed xP

Nope, you're not the only one. I don't care much about Season 4, honestly, and I never liked the idea of over-analyzing the show like most people do. I also wince whenever I read something like, "I'm going to show the whole school that I'm a brony lol." It's just... it's just a show. A good show, indeed, but honestly...

Yeah, I've pretty much felt a bit... out of place considering some of the other pony fans. It's a colorful enjoyable show and also my latest obsession, but it certainly isn't the best thing in the world and I'm honestly gobsmacked that it has such a huge fandom for being such a simple thing. There are things I cherish far more than ponies. Sure wish there were things that I cared about more that had this much attention.

Back in the day, I used to get a bit irritated, find it stupid, confusing and find those people to be of... questionable sanity... I really don't let it bug me anymore. It's just like all that other crazy stuff on the internet. The internet is a place of nonsense, with memes and insane things constantly happening with no real rhyme or reason. They can do what they want, even if it makes no sense to me. :3

MLP is probably one of the best things that's ever happened to me. It brings me so much happiness in my darkest hours. That said, I don't feel that it's this godly thing that should be worshiped. What it all comes down to, it's a kide show, and an extremely simple one at that. There's no secret meaning, no estrogen waves being produced to turn males gay, (my brother's theory...) no reason to be so critical of a little kids show, but also no reason to worship it. It's an enjoyable show, (though, not a perfect one) and I feel it should be left at that.

If people find happiness in overanalyzing something, then they can waste time doing so. I won't stop them. I'll just be here, doing something TOTALLY non-pony related... > ^ >

P.S. Zelda is better than MLP.
