Doctor XFizzle's Christmas Gift to MLP Forums: A Lesson in Youth and Health

A lesson?!? That's a lame gift. I'd rather have socks and underwear.

Nah, I just have a story to share that I hope will help others learn from the mistakes I made.

On August 17, 2013 I suffered a heart attack.

Yep, read that right, a heart attack. I'm 24 years old. I'm not going to go into the specifics of what happened but here's the main message I want to share:

Don't ever believe that you're too young to experience major health issues. I can guess that I got my heart attack from terrible eating habits, pounding down energy drinks on the daily back in college, and just plain not taking care of my body. Family history plays an important role too, but the message remains the same. Do not take your health for granted. You might think that you can get away with eating poorly because you're young and you've got time to work it out and change but I wouldn't risk it.

Sorry if its a downer of a message but I wish that none of you will have to experience surgery and angioplasty like I did, or worst of all, scaring the ever living daylights out of your loving parents.

Nice message, nobody is invincible no matter how young or strong they are. I learned this the hard way too not through a heart attack but through 4 knee injuries I got at work, each of them taking me out of work for at least a few weeks the most recent I am still recovering from right now. The first time was when I moved my leg in some awkward ways while moving heavy pallets and since then it has been a bit tender but I didn't take as good care of it as I should have.

My 2nd and 3rd injuries were from constant hard impacts to the sales floor while trying to reach lower shelves, after my 2nd injury I started using knee pads but got my 3rd injury while I was wearing my knee pads. My most recent injury happened December 1st because I have been made a backup checker in addition to already being a dairy clerk and am unable to stand in place for prolonged periods of time due to my previous injuries. I tried telling those brain dead morons that a million times, they didn't listen and I got hurt because of it. And this after 4 years without a major injury, yes there has been some close calls and I have had to call in sick a few times because of it but I can't even begin to put into words just how pissed I am that this record was shattered.

I know though I have never been completely the same after that the reason why I have gotten so many injuries especially the first 3 which all happened in the span of one year is because I haven't take as good care of myself as I should have. Once my most recent injury heals this will change, I am going to put myself in a position at work which will be easier on my knee and give me a more flexible schedule as well as being less stressful. And I am going to get back into my weight lifting and of course some cardio as well, I am built like a football player but still have a gut that I know once I get rid of will put less pressure on my knee.

I know a scared the living daylights out of my mom when I was electrocuted by an electric fence. It just got done raining, and I was bare footed...it wouldn't let go of me. She was literally crying and screaming thinking I was going to die (I think I was blacking out), and passed out in the drive way. :c

Here's another lesson: Do not touch an electric fence after it rained.
