As it stands we do not delete accounts; nor do we ban by request. As to why for both option I will point to the following.

But.. But.. you can't just leave! :3

Well anyway, as said before, there's kinda no point in deleting or banning an account, unless it would contain some personal information, that could cause any potential 'harm' in future.

Banning your account wouldn't make any difference anyway. You just wouldn't be able to login, so unless somepony forces you to login for some reason, there's absolutely no point in banning an account for leaving purposes.

Deleting would make more sense, but is that really necessary? You can remove profile picture, profile information and change display name if you feel, that things in here can cause any problems in future, but there's no need to remove it completely.

Besides, who knows? Perhaps you'll decide to come back after some time and believe me - it sometimes happens. I saw members coming back even after two years, and not only on MLP Forums.

Also, the link in post above explains things nicely.

If I'd be leaving (which is not going to happen anytime soon), I'd make a farewell post in Welcoming Plaza, even if that place wasn't really designed for that.  :P That way, ponies would know what happened and that I left the community. There would be a place to say goodbye to everypony and reply to these few last posts. Then, I'd be gone without any dramatic thunder special effects. (=

..But are you really sure you want to leave permanently? Perhaps at least, lurk in from time to time, you don't even have to be active in threads ~ don't you have any friends? :3
