  2. And Zephyr Breeze unknowingly being a part of Spike and Luna's plan was a nice touch since all 3 of them are the younger siblings.
  3. Very funny and adorable! I loved how everyone played a role in the story, and even showed new sides of the Mane 6' personalities from their own ideas to break through the castle. Shining got some much needed development, it's honestly nice to see more of him and to know that Twi and Shining never always got along (no cadence is seen either actually). Same deal with Luna and Celestia, we get to see them both argue like sisters again, and it is so hilarious. And the plan between Luna and Spike is great too. And little tidbits like baby Spike, baby Apple Bloom, Maud, Zephyr, etc.. All of it is unexpected, and it's what makes it so fun. This was a great 200th episode
  4. So the 100th episode was for the fans, and the 200th episode was for the writers...and the fans. I refuse to ever believe that twist ending featuring the most glorious image in the entire show was not also done for the fans. Luna is a James Bond villain, Spike is a femme fatale, it even brings everything with the spy stuff full circle to tie it back to the title. Sparkle's Seven...007. I love how even watching the after-interview before the episode didn’t sully the pleasure of that twist, because this episode just gets better and better the more you go back to it and feel things click in your head better. They even address the issue of predictability and have predictability vs. unpredictability as part of the plot’s conflict. Wonderful. Even if you don’t get this episode at first, it’s still an endearing, funny gem that you’ll want to come back to to understand more and more.
  5. This will probably go down as one of the funniest episodes in the entire series.

  8. Forum Smile Song Project When at first you don't succeed try try again. Long ago this was a stretch goal for another MCM, but it was not meant to be. It's time we make this a thing! What is the MLPF Smile Song Project? Simply put, we are soliciting your soul voice for inclusion in a Forum rendition of the song. Every member is invited to record as little or as much of the song as they want, and send a copy of them singing to me. When completed I will edit, master, and cut the clips together to form us all singing the song as one community. Whether it is one line, or the whole song ... sing for me. Wait, wasn't this done before? Eyup. It is part of the fandom legacy. This is definitely inspired by that project. That said, we are a community of friends and acquaintances, and many of us were not fans of the show when that project was announced and completed. I can't sing! Neither can I. That said don't worry to much about it. If you are interested in volunteering your voice to this fun little community project of ours, but have fears about your own singing, there are options still. The song ends in a crowd chorus. You could easily sing that piece. Also, Pinkie does have some spoken dialog as well. See below. Speaking part is bolded See, even if you feel that you can't sing there is still room for you. Ok, so how do I get you the sound files? Simple, you can upload to Soundcloud and PM be the link or you can email me at Jeric@Poniverse.net. Please for the love of automation and my sanity, please please put your profile link in the body of the PM or email and Smile Project in the subject line. What format do you need? While I prefer lossless, I can convert if needed so send me whatever your recording device allows. What equipment do I need? You and all your questions! You don't need a fancy schmany mic or Audio-Technica to do this. If you have a gaming headset, a cell phone, or a mic on your laptop ... it will do ok. How long do I have? I'm closing this on July 1. I'll be cleaning up the audio files as I go. Release of this will be in August. So is this going to sound like a mess? Probably, but remember ... Will you use everyone you receive? If you sing a part of the song, absolutely.
  9. Much like "The Saddle Row Review", this is an episode with a basic premise that works because of its unpredictable and zany execution. It also helps that it has a layer of heart thanks to the theme of family.
  10. New headcanon, Spike pretends to be a naive, harmless baby dragon to hide his true self, an evil genius.
  11. Mother of god... this was one of the funniest MLP episodes I've ever seen. Everything was so silly and weird, but oh my, this episode was so goddamn enjoyable! And I was laughing way a lot with the final plot twist This season has started really really good for me :3
  12. Just saw it at Babscon, today. One of the best episodes ever!
  13. That was a touching ending, and I loved the Luna and Rarity bits. Rainbow Dash and Zephyr was amusing too. Crazy how they connected all these disparate story beats into a cohesive narrative.

  15. I'm rewatching this a second time, and you're right on point. This self-referential (if not self-deprecating) episode pokes a good amount of fun at the "predictability" aspect, which you described: SA predicting Twilight's plan while also predicting they would go forth with a brand-new plan while seemlessly tying into the James Bond satire. (Great catch with the title, BTW.) The greatest episodes of the series are usually multi-layered: great on the surface with plenty of finer details on multiple watches, making it greater on the whole. Sparkle's Seven perfectly fits this mold. Thanks! I'll add it to the OP!
  16. Wow, I thought Twilight was gonna ignore Spike the entire episode but I guess not. Good ending and good episode. I enjoyed it.
  17. During Notre Dame Cathedral's renovations, a fire suddenly burst and spread across the building. The Central Tower has already been compromised, and the roof has collapsed. Firefighters are giving their best efforts to save the Cathedral and the various arts which lie in it. It is such a shame to see an iconic mark of French Gothic Architecture, which has stood since the 13th century, be put into serious jeopardy so suddenly. Let us all hope the Cathedral can be salvaged... but that remains to be seen. Fortunately, there have not been any recorded casualties thus far.
  18. Yeah, I mean I practically raise my kid sister. Also I think that they want to start better identifying Spike as an adoptive brother because we may actually be getting his real family this season. Good catch
  19. It was an actor appreciation episode. They called in the main voice actors that have been with the show from go and asked them what they always wanted their characters to do. They all gave their ideas and then the writers crafted a story to tie all the ideas together. 100 was for us. 200 was for them. They actually got story writing credit too Two reasons. One was hubris. It was a case of “even you can’t beat this system”. The second is that eventually she needs to know anyway if she is going to be large and in charge.
  20. Watching it a second time. The whole episode is hilarious, but the sequence with Dash and Rarity spying on Zeph, notably this… and this…AND THIS… made me cry from laughing so hard. XD
  21. Found the artist who made it. This'll be added to the OP along with a credit line and Twitter link.
  22. It had to be, or at least was St. Germain's idea. Watching Luna act like an over-the-top villain (with the "cat" goose and score) is one of the funniest moments of the series. Literally LOL'd.
  23. I just finished watching the newest episode and I thought it was awesome! I like how we get some backstory and development with Twilight and Shining Armor's sibling relationship. I admit that it was a little out of nowhere how they were competitive. It didn't feel like there was any competitiveness between the two throughout the series. Even so, I thought this was pretty interesting. It was also pretty cool how Spike was show to be with Twilight and Shining Armor over the years. Some of the scenes from the kite flying and sharing an apple reminded me of 'A Canterlot Wedding.' It was nice to see Spike was added along in some of the scenes. It was an interesting, yet cool idea to invade Canterlot Castle. It didn't really feel like a competition, but more along the lines of seeing how their security could improve. I liked each idea that was presented by the rest of the mane 6. It was great to see Rarity in her Shadow Spade and even Applejack's alter ego was interesting. I also liked how Rainbow was seen dressed up in a Watson wardrobe. My favorite would have to be where Spike and Fluttershy were spies and dodging the laser beams. Being able to take out laser beams and walking away with the crown felt pretty epic, in my opinion. Plus, it's great to see different team ups between the characters. I was sad to see Pinkie didn't get to go to space. Even how she did the moonwalk on Saturn's rings was pretty funny. Although, it would've been cool if she did the cake walk. It was great to see Zephyr Breeze and Maud make a return in the episode. As Spike and Fluttershy were trapped from the trap door, I honestly felt sorry for Spike. Even during the flashbacks, it felt like he was overshadowed as a sibling towards Twilight and Shining Armor. I remember in the episode, 'Once Upon a Zeppelin.' How Twilight had said to Spike that he was just as much a part of the Sparkle family when he took care of her Princess duties. I honestly thought that would have been mentioned at least once throughout the episode. I especially loved how Spike was able to win the crown, while he was getting assistance from Princess Luna. The look Luna had, while sitting her throne petting the Geese was amazing. It was like she was Dr. Claw from the show, Inspector Gadget. I even said to myself that I hoped Spike would win the crown, but I wasn't expecting it to go down that route. The way Spike explained how he planned it all out was pretty interesting and definitely out of nowhere. Even the smug look Luna gave at the end was pretty funny, in my opinion. I did like how Spike was able to be crowned Sibling Supreme and known as a sibling between Twilight and Shining Armor. All in all, I truly enjoyed this episode and it was truly a great way to make a 200th episode. I'm really looking forward to what other episodes this season has to offer.
  24. This was some pretty great fan fiction. For whatever reason, Twilight's sibling rivalry stuff feels a bit out of left field, but it's always felt that way to me so I guess that's just my problem. I also find all of the goofy faces kind of distracting - I wish the animators would take it down half a notch. And as lovely as all of the stuff placing Spike in Twilight's family is, I do wish there was more of it, and I think it makes his relationship with Twilight even more unclear. Otherwise, though, I laughed at all of the jokes here, and just wanted more of them. I could watch a whole episode of most of these ideas. It feels like fan fiction not only in how many call-backs there are, but also just in how the comedic sensibility is so much louder and busier and more aggressive - but I like fan fiction, and I'd probably favourite this story on FiMFiction.net.
  25. Which is better, Twilight's "Pudding" face or her "Forever" face?
  26. I think this episode also works as the perfect yin to the yang of "Slice of Life" in Season 5. With the latter representing the series at it's most outlandish and zany and the former representing the series at its most grounded and sincere.

  29. Well heya guys. So the final season is about a month away and we wanted to have some fun throughout it. The event ponies want to have a Season 9 Bingo. If you know what Bingo is then skip this, or don't because I love when my stuff is read. Okay so it's pretty simple, each player has a digital bingo card generated and sent to them via PM. That is if you opt-in and want to play. Otherwise I suppose you could skip out now. Oooh skipping is fun, but you know that's kinda hard for Kirin and Ponies to do. Anyway, Each card will have several randomly created predictions of what will happen in Season 9. No two cards will be the same. If the prediction comes true you earn that block. Five in a row vertical, horizontal, or diagonal you get BINGO. The cards will be 5x5 with the center square placed as a free space. The cards will be sent via PM before the Season 9 premier. None of the speculation can be obvious things we have seen from the trailer. Once Season 9 starts no new players, so opt in now. There will be something nifty for those that get Bingo. So if you want to play and receive a card, just post here. We are also talking suggestions for speculation to add to the cards. They have to be plausible for us to add it. Send these suggestions to @Jeric and if they work for a proper guess. > Goes Nirik DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS TOPIC. Bingo Week 1 Results for The Beginning of the End. SPOILERS in tag Thanks all and remember to receive a Bingo Card you need to opt-in to play the game.
  30. That was an incredibly fun episode, like so far it takes #1 for single episodes this season we will see if any upcoming episodes can take that spot. On top of it just being a really fun heist episode that gives all of the main cast time in the spotlight and gives Spike another heartwarming family moment. It is also really funny and paced really well considering all that is going on. We also finally get an acknowledgment of the royal guard and Canterlots pathetic defenses, so it isn't one-off either, it is an important episode. This one earns a solid 95/100, I really loved every moment of it.
