Why is there an age limit on a pony forum board?

While MLP Forums is intended to be largely appropriate for most age groups, the fact remains that its primary target audience are older fans. Despite restrictions on certain types of blatantly inappropriate material, there remains a fair bit of content within this community that is - by nearly any standard - not appropriate for extremely young children.

In addition to a desire to keep young children away from content that they - or their parents - are likely to find objectionable, this minimum has also been set into place to ensure that the forum remains in compliance with the American Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and similar laws.

Great thanks!

I think this is a good idea. I actually passed out reading some MLP fan made stuff (no, it was not Cupcakes) and was scarred for life. I think these children shouldn't have to deal with that crap.

It is a great idea by itself, but at some point, the kids will learn that they don't have to put their real age in the box.

No critic, just saying.

True, but if they lie on the form and put a false age down, then neither they nor their legal guardians can blame the forums for what they see.
