Is there a fitness topic/group on this website?
Was thinking about posting blogs or pics of my journey
Tho idk if this is the right place for it

Hi Everypony - what's up!
😎

Hey! Sorry for the confusion. I assure you you aren't banned from anything but using the "contact us" form was the right thing to do. We'll sort it out!
Users in the Blank Flanks group are not allowed to start personal conversations on the site by design. This is a spam defense measure as we've seen people join and immediately start annoying others with sketchy links and such. You get out of the Blank Flanks group by making 5 posts in sections that count posts.
This could probably be communicated better. @RikifiveFYI

Having a license would make life so much easier but I have so much anxiety about driving a car
Anybody else have similar feelings? About driving or similar situation

@Rikifive: Talk to me about e-scooters if you want. I know that EU regulations restrict them to 25 km/h but there's at least one scooter, the Segway GT2, which is exempted from that rule because it's so ludicrously powerful (6000W!) that EU law classifies it not as an e-scooter but as a recreational toy. Other super-powerful scooters are probably treated similarly. It's possible that Poland or your municipality has more specific laws but I'm guessing you're thinking of the 25 km/h EU limit.
Then, there's also a pretty active scooter hacking community around various models for unlocking EU models' speed limits. The motors and electronics are usually identical to the "global" versions of these models - the speed limits are normally enforced only by firmware. https://scooterhacking.org/ is a good starting point for this. Consider whether a good speed limit unlock hack exists for any models you're considering. Just in case you ever want to experiment with it on private land or a racetrack.
Not that I'm in any way advocating for or encouraging you to break any laws. I share this intel for purely educational purposes.
There's a massive difference between high-speed scooters being legal to sell in your country versus it being legal to ride a scooter at high speed. Knowing your rights and what constitutes pushing your luck is never a bad idea.Personally, I think that if people want to limit e-scooter speeds at the firmware level, it should come hoof-in-hoof with limiting car speeds in a similar way, too, at least in urban areas. Fair is fair. One of these vehicle types is a multi-ton machine that will flatten anyone it touches while moving and it ain't the scooters.

@Miss: There are a lot of e-scooters at all kinds of price points but they're much cheaper than a car, especially when factoring in maintenance and energy/fuel costs, if you're considering them as an alternative to that.
The worry of getting hit is well-founded but is largely mitigated by wearing protective gear (helmet is an absolute non-negotiable must!) - the faster you go, the more gear you want - and planning your routes to avoid roads with heavy and/or fast car traffic. Unless you're unlucky enough to live someplace where high-speed stroads are literally the only way of getting around, in which case... my condolences.
One convenient thing you can also do with PEVs is multimodal trips: where you use your PEV for first-and-last-mile coverage and use transit connections that may otherwise be too far away from you for longer distances.
Just some ideas! Glad you're planning to move to a place where cycling and transit will be viable for all your needs regardless.

I didn't say anything about (non-electric) bikes. I assumed you live in a place like a suburb given how you framed your status. That's why I suggested PEVs - they make it very easy to cover much longer distances than normal bikes.
Personally, I can put in a strong word for e-scooters making car-free life possible in "car-dependent" areas. The better models can get 30km or more of range and speeds of at least 30 km/h, and can even be faster than cars for some trips. You never need to worry about parking or getting them stolen either because you can bring them right into stores, schools, buses, trains, etc.!
If an e-scooter, e-bike, or electric unicycle can cover, say, 95% of your transportation needs, then you'll probably come out ahead using one that way and using someone else's car (via a ride-hailing app) for the 5%. Bonus: this way, you still get the benefit of a more frequent (and thus probably better-skilled) driver doing the driving.

Have you looked into e-bikes, e-scooters, or other personal electric vehicles (PEVs) as alternatives to getting around by car? It depends a lot on your local infrastructure of course but it's worth serious consideration.
As an experienced driver who got rid of their car, I can tell you that you're right to be anxious about driving and it's well worth the effort to explore and advocate for alternatives to it. Statistically, it is one of the most likely-to-kill-or-maim-you activities you can engage in, and it can happen through no fault of your own.
If you do go down the path of pursuing a license, which I'd say is worth it even if you don't rely on it to get around, driving school is 100% worth it to maximize your chances of avoiding life-altering accidents.
There's a lot I could say about this topic...

It's tough to find threads in which I can participate, which is why I'm grateful whenever someone resurrects an old thread I can comment on. I'd bring back a thread or two myself if I didn't think others would be annoyed if I did so.
I guess I'll head to bed and see if the sound of thunder can help lull me to sleep.

So I have been watching an episode a day of MLP: FiM since mid-to-late last year... The final episode STILL manages to make me cry a little.

If it was my PC, I'd do a few things differently (assuming I stuck to the same price budget):
- ECC RAM - it's supported by Ryzen CPUs and I'm a fan of it on principle.
- Spend the money that went into the hard drive on a larger SSD.
- Use a Linux distro instead of Windows and put the difference toward a higher-end GPU.
- Math out the max. power draw and consider getting a smaller PSU. Savings can go toward the SSD or GPU.
How to translate that into a rating out of 10, I'm not sure. Depends on what your priorities were with your PC build - which aren't necessarily the same as mine.
