  2. For the time being, blog deletions are being handled via support tickets. Given that there's no way to restore deleted blogs, this allows people a brief grace period by which they can reconsider their decision to have the blog deleted completely.
  3. Last round of raffle prizes sent out. I've got stuff to do readings of. D:

  4. Donations and subscriptions are functionally identical at the moment and carry with them the same member perks; the only difference between the two being the means by which they are initiated and the duration for which they last. Donations are initiated through the forum index, via the donation tracker. Every one dollar donated through the donation tracker will grant you donor perks for three days, after which you will be placed back into the standard users group. Donations are not recurring, and will expire automatically at the end of the donation period. Subscriptions, on the other hand, are initiated through the MLP Forums store and recur automatically every month until cancelled. Subscriptions come in several price tiers ($10 - $50) that all carry the same perks, which can be upgraded, downgraded, or cancelled completely at any time. They are a means to make a donation on a recurring monthly basis, which is most helpful to us as the majority of our expenses are recurring in nature themselves.
  5. First and foremost, you get that warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing that you're helping what may or may not be your favourite fan community to survive in this cold, dark, and capitalistic society in which we live in... but if warm fuzzy feelings don't quite do it for you, all active donors also receive the following perks: 150x200 avatars (50px longer than the normal 150x150 limit), and 150KB for uploaded avatars (as opposed to the normal 100KB) 500 KB file limit on profile background images (vs. 255 KB limit normally) space for 500 private messages (twice as much as the normal 250 limit) the ability to change your member title a golden username attachments in PM conversations Having stated what donations will get you, it may be worth while to also touch upon what they will not get you: preferential treatment. We value all of our members equally, and will not give donors special treatment when it comes to poor behavior; if you break our rules, you'll be given the same warnings and/or punishments that any other member of the forum would receive for the same infraction. No matter how much we may appreciate your donations (and trust us - we do!), they are just that: donations; they do not imply joint ownership of the community, nor a customer/business relationship. Legal Notes Please take a moment to read our notes on the legalities involved in donating to MLP Forums.
  6. Feld0 and Scootacool deserve more credit than I can possibly provide for all that they do to keep this community functioning properly. Feld0 has been, hands-down, the best community owner I've had the pleasure of working with. This person knows what they're talking about. Pity us, for we are doing the job that nobody in their right mind should ever aspire to. :-X
  7. Of everyone I know, only one person I knew online has ever tried to give me any real shit over it. No big deal, and nothing worth losing sleep over - I just blocked him and moved on with my life. That said, I do know a lot of folks that have been judged surprisingly harshly by their friends and/or family for being into ponies. Honestly, the fact that so many people get judged harshly for liking MLP that I have to wonder why so many MLP fans judge people that like NSFW pony fanworks so harshly. I'd think that if you're used to being given shit over something that you enjoy, you wouldn't be so quick to give it to others for the stuff that they enjoy.
  8. 'Global Rules' is straight forward and easy to understand for anyone that speaks English, so I'd have to say that it's the ideal name in this case.

    music About Rap.

Honestly, I think the same goes for most music to be honest - not just today, but in general; you've got to shovel through the crap in order to find the hidden gems. It's the same with things like country, which is another genre I like that I feel gets unfairly blasted by folks all too often due to limited exposure. That said, I fully realize that rap isn't something that everyone is going to enjoy... I just feel that in a lot of cases people judge the entirety of it based solely on a very limited level of exposure to some of the most stereotypical songs. Some things that I'd personally recommend (many of which can also be found on the rap thread I linked to) include... P.O.S. - Purexed: Deltron 3030 - 3030: GZA - B.I.B.L.E.: Eminem - Lose Yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TADyXC2K0g

    music About Rap.

Not... really? To be sure, there is plenty of rap like that, but to imply that rap as a collective whole is about just that would be incorrect. There's plenty of rap that doesn't center around bad stuff.
  11. What is wrong with people that love the Wii? It has plenty of games that are perfectly enjoyable, even for someone like me that does not like motion controls at all. It may not have the greatest graphics ever, but who cares? I'd rather play an eight bit game that is fun than a Playstation10 game that plays like crap. :V As an aside, I'm a PC gamer first and foremost - though I do own every major console dating back to the NES with the exception of the Sega Saturn and WiiU (for now... I'll have one at some point)

    music About Rap.

While a lot of rap can follow those sorts of themes, there is a whole hell of a lot that breaks out of that and focuses on things that are less... annoying. Relevant thread link: http://mlpforums.com/topic/1667-zoops-straight-thuggin-rap-hiphop-thread/ My recommendations, take them.

I'll never understand why they put the word 'fun' in a word associated with such misery.

Christmas Eve. What a time to go, huh?

My uncle had been struck with cancer for about two years (lasted one year loner than any doctor expected), and put up one hell of a fight the entire time; though by the end his health had decayed completely. In some ways I suppose being released from that was a Christmas present in and of itself for him, is what I'd like to think.

  16. Merry Christmas to those of you that live in a timezone in which it is still the 25th. Belated merry Christmas to the rest of you lot
  17. First round of raffle prizes delivered... still tons to go. Too much work. D:

  18. Personally I have no interest what so ever in gore or grimdark stuff - I don't read super dark and/or violent fanfiction, and have no interest at all in art of the same variety... that said, I see no reason why that stuff would be considered 'disrespectful' to the show. Why would it be? Nobody is passing it off as anything other than fan labor, and in most cases it isn't exactly being shoved down anyone's throat (I never come across the stuff, for example, and I'm extremely active in a number of different MLP related websites). If anything, the existence of such material should be taken as yet another sign of FiM's remarkable success given just how far and wide its appeal stretches, and to who all it is appealing to. While I don't mean to accuse you of this personally, these arguments often give me a "I don't like this, thus it is bad" kind of vibe. Funny you should mention this. I happen to know a great many 'cloppers', of them nearly every last one of them goes to great lengths to conceal the fact that they're into R34 material out of fear of having stereotypes like this applied to them. Actually, I think the real problem has to do with people making blanket statements about an entire category of people based solely on the actions of a relative few. Vocal minorities, and such.
  19. Seriously. Those things are completely and utterly horrifying beyond all belief. Their very existence on this planet is offensive to me.
