But yeah, lots and lots of paperwork. There's a TON of stuff going on behind the scenes right now - some of which may not be popular, but some of which should make people happy, I think.

      I hope?

  4. Well, you wouldn't be the first person to register and be active here that isn't a fan of ponies. We've actually had a couple fairly well known posters here with very little actual interest in the show - we do have a rather robust off-topic section, so it's perfectly possible to get a fair bit out of the community without having to subject yourself to the candy-colored equines.
  5. I would like to once again direct people's attention to my post here, which contains an updated version of the proposal in the opening post: http://mlpforums.com...140#entry684532 We're still interested in hearing what people think, and if they believe that the new proposal is an improvement over the last.
  6. If someone lacks 40 posts and creates a 'life advice'ish thread elsewhere on the forum, present policy is to let it be until they've reached forty posts, at which point we move it into Life Advice. It is simple, and it works.
  7. You're a few months late for that, to be honest... not to mention that of the folks that left after the chat was taken down, very few of them were active in any sense of the word on the actual forum - the vast majority of the people that left this site once the chat room was removed were the people that were here exclusively for the chat. It makes sense that they'd leave once their reason for being here was removed.
  8. @, Hold your thrice damned and utterly abominable tongue, you misbegotten purveyor of lies and verbal vomit! Are your ears so completely saturated and overflowing with filth that you are unable to hear the malevolent and destructive lies that spill forth from it like some manner of fetid sewage overflow? Do you, o false prophet, truly believe any of that which seeps from between those two cursed and cracked lips of yours? Do you spread your lies and falsehoods out of mere ignorance, or out of some malicious intent to seed discord and chaos across the land? For your sake, I shall presume that you are merely a confused and frightened child and educate you as such. The 'sweet nectar of the Gods', you say? Pish-posh! It elevates you no more than a common street urchin is elevated when he or she attempts to chase the metaphorical tiger; you describe not a divine nectar, but instead a harrowing and destructive psychological agent of destruction, responsible for defiling the minds and bodies of countless millions. Twenty three flavors mixed by a master alchemist indeed - I doubt any mere neophyte or apprentice could ever hope to create such a destructive and vile concoction! You speak of Pibb attempting to steal some manner of... glory from Dr. Pepper; to this statement I have no response - no response, that is, other than to ask how one can possibly steal something that does not exist? How can you hope to steal glory from something that is ultimately a disgusting train wreck of nauseating proportions? How can such a thing have glory in the first place? You speak of justice, of morality, and holiness while at the same time embracing what you yourself have admitted to be a crippling hallucinogenic drug that does naught but instill within those poor souls that consume it perverse delusions of grandeur and divinity. My friends, be not swayed by this charlatan, nor of any of his shenanigans. Know the truth. Know the Pibb.
  9. No, it makes you somebody that is knowingly disregarding our rules and spitting all over them. Read what I wrote again - I said that abusive behavior is the act of a prick, not dodging the character minimums.
  10. @,@@KakeiTheWolf, At the end of the day, common sense will dictate how we approach things that are not explicitly covered by the rules. Linking to malicious files and/or blatantly illegal material will result in a one-way trip to the moon as quickly as possible. Trying to cover everything will only result in a massive document that nobody will read; better, I think, to cover the basics, those things that happen relatively commonly. The points system is not for people that come here with the blatant intent of causing nothing but problems - those people get cracked with the Asshole Stick right off the bat, and sent packing. As for spelling and grammar... I think that's something that we'd probably have to approach on a case-by-case basis really, depending on how extreme the situation is. http://mlpforums.com/topic/28252-love-tolerance-and-a-preview-of-things-to-come/page__st__80#entry659807 That post does a good job of covering people's concerns about what we consider NSFW content to be, I think.
  11. In this case, they could've simply posted the story in a spoiler tag, thereby giving them many more times the characters required.
  12. The reason why is is a bit harsh is because in order to get it, you have to be aware of the rule, and make a proactive decision to disregard it completely. It isn't just a matter of breaking a rule, so much as it is an issue of completely disrespecting the rules entirely.

    Apology

No worries here, this sort of thing happens from time to time. I'm fairly certain that I know who the last remaining user is, though I've not taken any action yet due to a lack of absolute certainty. We are watching the account in question quite closely, however. At any rate, welcome to the forum; feel free to stick around a bit even if you aren't necessarily a pony fan.
  14. In the interest of improving communication with the members here, and making it easier to get proper support for technical and similar issues, we've decided to try an experiment of sorts; rather than having support requests get shoved into the Feedback & Support board, we've decided to try moving to a ticket based support system, and repurposing Feedback & Support into a solely feedback oriented board. To to get started with the new support system, first click your account name in the upper right-hand side of the forum. Once you've brought the resulting menu up, head over to the client area, as highlighted in the image above; from there, click the support tab to be taken to the support request page, where any existing support requests you've made will appear, along with the option to submit a new support request. When making a new request, you'll be asked to select from one of several different categories - General Site Questions, Moderation Disputes, Roleplay World, and Technical Issues/Bug Reports. The category that you select dictates which staff members are able to view and handle the submitted ticket; moderation disputes, for example, go to Swoop and I to deal with. Support tickets work in a manner that is somewhat similar to a private message, in that they allow easy back and forth communication with the appropriate staff members until an issue is resolved. If you find yourself particularly satisfied or dissatisfied with a particular response, you're able to give the response in question a 1-5 star rating, visible only to the administration. Since pictures are fun, here's what everything looks like: Request list: Creating a new request: Completed request: We realize that the support system is a bit buried at the moment, and have plans in store to bring it to a much more visible location in the very near future. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

  16. We've made a few changes to the administrative side of things over here. As you can see at the bottom of the forum index, we've made some changes to some of the staff groups. Tech Admins | Community Admins | Global Moderators | Section Moderators | Subscribers | Members More specifically, the Administrator group is now the Community Admins group, while the former Site Owner group has now been changed to Tech Admins. The Community Admins group - commonly referred to as the 'Oops' by Feld0 - consists of Swoop and myself*; we're going to be responsible for pretty much the exact same thing we've been responsible for in the past - acting as a point of contact for people that wish to bring up concerns regarding things like actions taken by moderators, and similar issues that they feel the need to speak with a higher authority regarding. No real change there. The Tech Admin group, on the other hand, is a little different. Tech Admins are going to primarily focused and concerned with keeping the site operating properly and dealing with the back-end issues that would make my head spin. This group consists of Feld0 (obviously), and administrative newcomer, Scootacool. While Scootacool may be a relatively recent addition to the staff, his extremely cool head, good judgement, and skill with weird technical codey things makes him pretty bloody perfect for the job. He's already been given his first project, which I think a lot of people will enjoy once it's good to go. * Yes, my break is over. Mourn me.
  17. Don't worry - people that habitually break the rules can be given appropriate punishments outside of the point system. :V
  18. Here's my most recent proposal from the staff board. Please let us know what you think about the revised numbers aand such. Certain things, like the idea for exponential point decreases, have not yet been discussed.
  19. We'd prefer to keep the quality of the forum relatively high across the board. "Drama forums" tend not to have have any sort of worthwhile content. If people are immature enough that the only way they can keep their anger problems under control is to fight things out in public, this isn't the place for them. These aren't new rules - they already exist; this is simply a new path for enforcing them.
  20. I suppose it may be a minor point, but Kyronea hasn't been an active staff member in a very long time; though they only semi-recently resigned at the end of an extended break.
  21. On the other hand, if they were to not give their blessing to it now that you've proposed it in public in front of everyone, I'm sure people would be quite apt to think them miserable tyrants.
  22. Considering that there have been 13,535 moderator actions logged that have not been carried out by Devin, I think this opinion is extremely uninformed.
  23. Pibb all the way - I don't even consider Dr. Pepper a viable option when Pibb is available for consumption.
  24. I get a lot of Tribes Ascend advertisements for some reason - I'm really the last person they should be throwing ads at, considering that I already play the ever loving heck out of the game. :V
  25. While I am personally not a fan of checking people's user name history in order to figure out who in the heck they are, I don't think it's a large enough issue to warrant removing name changes entirely. Honestly, I'd personally be fine with dropping them to two per month myself. @@Bohtty,@@Incognito Please consider PMing each other if you wish to continue your bickering.
