Just an update, this has been approved and will be implemented in the near future. Right now the only holdup is a significant number of other issues presently demanding our attention that need to be dealt with before we move on to new things.

Given the way the last few weeks have gone, I'd probably do it without a second thought. Work has been shit, I've been sleeping like shit, and the RP thread I'm involved in has been moving slow as shit*. I HAVE NOTHING TO LIVE FOR. I'd end up regretting it though, I'm sure. :V * I know it's not your fault, I still love you. No. Die. ... I'm going to bed.

Hello! Your friendly neighborhood Zoop is here at your service! While I imagine a lot of old-timers around these parts probably know a little about me, I figured that this thread would be a good way to not only interact a bit more directly with a larger cross-section of the folks here on the forum, but also a good way to convince people that I'm a cute pony and not an angry eldritch abomination. Keyboard and mouse. Otherwise, if we're talking gamepad only... the old XBOX-S controller, hands down... I'd give my vote to the 360 controller, but the digital pad is a bit too useless. I honestly cannot stand Dualshock controllers and find them to be exceptionally uncomfortable. The analog stick layout drives me batty, and the entire thing just has an uncomfortable shape in my eyes. Similarly, I've never really been a huge fan of anything that Nintendo has provided.

I mean the staff badges specifically. Badges are something that are immediately visible the moment you view someone's post; in some ways, they can stand out more than the actual text of the post itself due to the fact that they're purdy and such - as such, to me, special badges have the unfortunate side effect of immediately labeling those that have them as being different than the rest of the crowd. While there are obviously some differences in terms of role and such, at the end of the day we're all here with the same objective in mind. That is why I say that while I recognize why they are needed, I would prefer that they not be needed, and why I'm not an immediate fan of creating a bunch of new ones.

I don't know. I'm personally more of the opinion that special badges serve little purpose beyond creating a disconnect between those that have them and those that do not have them. Were it not necessary that people know who the moderators and administrators were, I'd be all for throwing the alicorn and royal guard badges out.

I personally wouldn't be against having additional badges, but at the same time they would need to be able to blend completely seamlessly with the existing set - having a noticeable stylistic differences between badges would look quite tacky, in my opinion. The bar is set extremely high, I'm afraid.

I think calling the GCT a 'spam thread' is a disservice to it. While it is a rapid thread that bounces around quite a bit, it's not just a spam thread. If it were I wouldn't have close to 500 posts in it. That said, the post timer is a global setting and not something that can be adjusted individually per board. Even if it were, I personally would see no need for it to be adjusted in this case.
