That could be explained as the original banner being lost to time and the banner of Celestia and Luna being one that all ponies would recognize Example: Did you know that some of the first American flags had a British flag where the stars are now? I always thought that after Discord was defeated Celestia and Luna sort of tried to live normal lives. Then after the Windigos attacked they found the settlers who were trying to start up Equestria and were elected to be their leaders since they represented all three races of ponies. I would imagine that the communications back then were pretty medieval and after the fall of discord there would be a lot of chaos from his minions being master less and the ponies in general not having a unified nation. We also don't know where Discord set up his HQ. If the sisters defeated him up where the Crystal empire was then stayed up there for a while the events in Hearths warming eve could have happened several weeks or months before Celestia and Luna even learned about it.

As long as you are not hurting me I will love and tolerate you. The moment you draw your arm back to hit or draw a gun I will respond with just as much force. Self defense is different then loving and tolerating people who aren't encroaching on you.

I don't think RD would be Slytherin. As seen in Dragonshy she does not think before attacking and is impatient. While she may have some lofty goals she does not seem to be the sneaky crafty type. She tends to act more without thinking and that is a big no no in Slytherin. As for Rarity, She is loaded to the brim with ambition, she is cunning and sometimes manipulative. She values High society and Slytherin is the house of high society. Slytherin values ambition and cunning despite the people who give it a bad name. Rarity is loyal to her friends yes, but her most predominate traits tend to be the ones that lean more into Slytherin territory.

I don't mind her. She's very flawed but at least she seems to be headed in the right direction now. She has made some bad choices obviously and has not been the nicest pony but I don't hate her.

Maybe their gonna have an episode about accepting people with disabilities and not judging them? That or the stupid haters got to them. I think if they did it right a Derpy episode could be good. But then again I would be happy with more background sightings.

Exactly! Bingo! right on the money! I always dislike when people assume that if you're a good fighter you're a good leader. Take King Richard the Lion Heart. History tends to think of him as a great leader and while that may be true on the battlefield the fact is that his country was bankrupted by his wars and he was a terrible leader to those under his rule. Flashy warrior leaders may give the people something to look to but if they don't understand economics, politics, diplomacy, reason, logic, money, history, logistics, and more then the country is not going to do well in the long run. And from what we have seen Equestria is very prosperous meaning that, while Celestia may not be a strong warrior anymore, she is more then capable of running a nation smoothly.

Use it in a limited manner. Set a timer and allow myself to use it only for short periods. Possibly have a friend who would alert me if the Ill effects were starting to take hold so I could take it off and be uncorrupted. As for what I would do? Anything to help others as long as I knew my limits.

McTrotagul looked sadly at the remains of her hat as AppleJack walked towards the Hufflepuff table. That had been a nice hat. "Next up a Miss Fluttershy." There was a panicked "Eep!" From the group of new students and one of them vanished beneath a table. "Oh come on Fluttershy!" A awesome Rainbow colored pony said loudly. "All you have to do is go up there and have a hat put on your head. There was some frightened squeaking followed by a panicked voice saying. "I don't want everypony looking at me! What if the hat can't find a place for me and everyone laughs? What if" The Rainbow colored Pegasus grabbed the yellow pony by the tail and proceeded to drag her up to the stool before setting the hat down on her head. "Hello there." The hat said nicely. Fluttershy didn't respond but instead stiffened up and fell over crushing the hat. "owwwwww. Hufflepuff." The yellow Pegasus didn't move and remained petrified. "I'll get her." AppleJack offered walking up and throwing the adorable pony over her shoulder before walking back to the Hufflepuff table. Rainbow Dash landed and whipped her mane back as the clapping died down. "Yea I know what you're thinking. Might as well go ahead and sort the totally awesome pony while she's up here." McTrotagul looked in surprise at the pony she had forgotten about. "So I'm just gonna go ahead and cut the suspense on which house gets to have me in it, I'm gonna say there'res only one house cool enough for me and that's Gryffindor!" As the Gryffindor table cheered enthusiastically McTrotagul cleared her throat. "Oh right. I guess I had better put on the hat to make it official. he he, just a sec!" RD grabbed the hat and slammed in onto her head. "Just put me in Gryfindor and lets move on!" The sorting hat put on a Troll face before replying. "I Don't know. You've got a lot of loyalty to your friends. I"m thinking you may do well in Hufflepuff." Rainbow Dash's mouth fell open. HUF-GRYFFINDOR!" The hall erupted into cheering and a few firecrackers were launched from the Gryffindor table as Rainbow Dash took off and flew a victory lap around the hall before sitting at her new place at the table. "Oh the books don't say anything about how the Sorting hat Sorts you!" Twilight Sparkle said in a panicked voice as Rainbow Dash's applause died down. "Come on! There has to be something somewhere!" She continued as she flipped through the books she had brought in her pockets. "Don't you worry Twilight! It can't be too bad!" Pinkie Pie advised with a big smile on her face. "I wonder what house I'll be in? Gryffindor sounds fun! But so does Slytherin and Hufflepuff! I wonder If Raven Claw has good parties or if the're all boring?" "Miss Pinkimena Dian Pie." McTrotagul called loudly. Pinkie Pie jumped in the air before bouncing over to the stool. "Oh this is gonna be fun! I've never met a talking hat before!" "Uhhhh." "Do you know any good jokes? I know this great one about hats but you might find it offensive but I could cut out the offensive parts but that would make the joke not funny, I know I'll tell the one about the boot and the...." "MISS PIE!" McTrotagul was forced to shout to make herself heard. Pinkie Pie giggled. "Oh yea sorting, got it!" She then put the hat on her head. "Well quite the mind we have here and..." The hat was cut off by a loud snort. "Is something funny? Pinkie Pie nodded. "I was just thinking of how funny it would be to have a talking pair of boots." "As I was saying..." "So what's it like being a hat? Do you get mad when people don't wash their manes or do you not care?" "it's one of my pet peeves." Pinkie Pie gasped. "I know! Once there was this time AppleJack forgot to wash her mane and Rarity was all.... "FOR MERLIN'S SAKE STOP TALKING!" The hat shouted. Pinkie Pie frowned before replying. "Okay I am not gonna talk any more. No more talking from Pinkie Pie. Gonna stay quiet and let you decide where to put me. No more talking." "GRYFFINDOR! AND WHY IS EVERYONE AT THIS SORTING SO WEIRD?" As Pinkie Pie bounced off to the Gryffindor table McTrotagul looked at her list. "Miss Twilight Sparkle." Twilight approached the stool nervously as notes and pieces of paper fell out of her pocket as she walked. Shoving her books back into robes she looked sheepishly up at McTrotagul. "Sorry I've looked in all my books and haven't found anything about how this test works. Do you have a manual?" The Hat looked over at Twilight and shared a nod with McTrotagul. "RavenClaw!" It shouted without even having her put it on. "But don't I need to have the hat put on my head? The book said..." Twilight protested as McTrotagul pushed her towards the Raven Claw table. Clearing her throat McTrotagul looked at her list and quietly murmured. "I hope the rest of them are a little saner then those six."

(At the sorting.) "Miss Rarity." Miss McTrotagul called loudly. Rarity walked up next to the hat and looked at it wearily. "Now now no need to be afraid I don't bite." The hat said in a friendly manner "I refuse to put on this crime against fashion!" Rarity stated firmly while taking a step back. The Sorting hat looked as offended as a talking hat could. "I beg your pardon!" It said obviously offended. "You mustn't insult the Sorting Hat dearie. It's old and wise and although it may be a little frayed it is more then capable of doing its job." McTrotagul advised her voice starting to have an edge. "No." "If you aren't sorted you can't stay here." Rarity paused and looked thoughtful. "Well I suppose I could put it on if...." Her horn glowed and a needle and thread hovered out of her robe's pocket. "Now wait just a second!" The hat shouted as a McTrotagul's hat flew off her head and the seams fell apart. "Young Lady!" McTrotagul started as the brand new fabric from the hat covered the Sorting hat and was sown on, (leaving of course holes for the mouth.) Rarity smiled and examined her work. "There! its not my best work but it will do." And with that Rarity levitated the hat onto her head. "Oh the Inside is nasty! I must fix this at once!" The hat's mouth formed into an expression of fear before shouting. "SLYTHERIN! NOW GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE!" As Rarity was drug struggling to her table as she shouted about not being finished AppleJack walked up to the hat and put it on. "Gez what a fuss bucket. This ain't nasty at all."

Gryffindor has the Weaslys and all the uncouth slobs. Raven claw is a possibility but then again it's more bookish and not about social grace and career advancement. Hufflepuff is not a bastion of class either. Slytherin on the other hoof is the house with class and style. Its members are the elite and the wealthy, they are the people she would want to hang outwith and who she would hope to make clothing for. It represents ambition and cunning. Even if she was told Slytherin was the house of Evil I think she wouldn't be the type to argue with the hat because of what one pony said. Besides that Green and sliver is just such a great combination for dress making!

Maybe Fluttershy could be in Raven claw? She's smart and knows how to deal with medical injuries. She may not be as bookish as Twilight but it would probably fit better then Gryffindor. Hufflepuff is a good possibility. I like Rarity being in Slytherin!
