  1. 1. I should've addressed this earlier, but I guess I should probably consider making a second version of my backstory that excludes connections to the Mane 6 entirely, and I think I will change his name to radiant prism. 2. I've thought about it a bit, and I guess I now have some more solid reasons for him to distrust Celestia and especially Luna, namely, Luna having been Nightmare Moon at one point, and Celestia having put her trust in her sister so quickly after she had been the aforementioned villain. Distrust by extension, I guess. 3. Another thing I should mention is that the RP I created him for is very strongly bared on PoorYorickDA's Equestria divided. The character in question is one of Rarity's more obsessive lovers (out of many, mind you, so nothing special in the context of the RP). He joins a party of the other characters who have been called to a certain village by voices in their dreams because the aforementioned voices promised him a way to free Rarity from a curse than turned part of her body into living crystal and because the voices promised him a way to prove himself to her. In essence, to finally realize the desire for her he's had for so long. Whether that will actually happen or not is something I'm unsure of. Further detailing his personality profile, though, he's very particular about who he interacts with since he's a generally cautious pony, but, at the same time, once he's dedicated to something, he gets -very- dedicated to it. That, and while he is a relatively shrewd businessman, he's not immoral or a villain by any stretch of the imagination. On the D&D alignment scale, he's neutral, leaning good.
  2. Well, this is what I have so far in the backstory. Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I'm writing him up to season 2, since that's when the RP he's for takes place. I plan to use him otherwise, though, so he doesn't normally have any actual relationship with Rarity to speak of unless he's in an RP that calls for it. Background: Shining Prism led a fairly cushy high-class life, sent to only the most prestigious Unicorn academies. He was spoiled almost constantly by his parents, though he often found much more interest in his studies than the wealth of toys and trinkets his parents showered him with since birth. It only fit him that he was so, as he was a very skilled spellcaster;a prodigy of sorts. When in the academy, as a child, he quickly began to become jealous of a certain unicorn named Twilight Sparkle. From what he heard, she pretended to be unable to hatch a dragon egg, suddenly did so, was accepted into the academy, and quickly became Celestia’s apprentice, a position which was rather prestigious in the world of spellcasting. What Shining Prism saw it as, though, was a series of purely lucky events that lead to Twilight Sparkle jumping on the fast track to magic power and ability. His parents were still incredibly proud of him, though, and only encouraged him to follow whatever path he would find the most productive, useful, and suited to him. As his father always said, “Never tell someone to do something they can’t, when someone else can. It’s a waste of everyone’s time and bits. Ponies have Cutie Marks for a reason.” Once he had graduated from Celestia's Academy for Gifted Unicorns, he immediately entered to work of magic-related sciences and technology, spending additional years apprenticing under a number of court wizards and inventors, only serving to further his knowledge and skills. Early after completing his apprenticeships, he struck out to Manehattan, and started his own business as an inventor and purveyor of magic technologies. Shining Prism's business boomed along with his wealth, much like his father's. He quickly became wealthy and relatively famous within the field(s) of technology, biology, and magic, though he always held a strong disdain for Twilight Sparkle - believing that the sole reason she was so skilled was because she was coddled by Princess Celestia, whom he never believed to be terrible powerful due to her recent string of defeats; he never fully trusted or respected her or her sister, Princess Luna, though he believed that they (usually) had the best interests of their ponies (and whatever else lived in Equestria in mind. In most cases, that is. Being as wealthy as he was, Shining Prism found it rather easy to get a ticket for the Grand Galloping Gala, though he honestly found the entire affair to be boring, and only attended to establish connections and some political ‘oomph’ in the Unicorn upper-class. That was until, while at the Gala, he heard an angelic voice behind him. When he turned, he laid eyes upon the most beautiful sight he ever saw. A single, female unicorn - her eyes like the finest sapphires, her coat white like the newfallen, powdered snow, her flowing mane lavender and fragrant just like the very plants themselves. She was, in his mind, the most alluring of perfections, and all it took was but a single glance. In a near-instant, Shining Prism had fallen deeply in love, but, before he could greet the beauty, she had left on the forelock of Prince Blueblood, but Shining Prism would not allow himself to be defeated. He put everything he could muster into expanding his business, if only to better impress Rarity.
  3. Lately, I've started writing my first real pony OC (a male unicorn, to be exact), but I can't really seem to get my word count past 600 words. I sorely need a more experienced OC writer here, to help me expand on my character's history. Oh, and assuming I'm allowed to, I am willing to provide payment.
  4. Well, I don't really have -one- favourite, so I'd probably wonder why Rarity and Rainbow Dash kissed me, then I'd spontaneously become polygamous.
  5. I don't so much as want Discord to be invulnerable as much as I want him to be a huge thorn in the respective sides of the humans. One of the advantages the humans will have, though, is that they're more worried about keeping the resources they need intact than they are the populace of Equestria, especially since overpopulation is one of the things that drove them to Equestria. The ponies, on the other hand, have one home and one home only. They can't go all-out. Plus, since the RP is taking place in the near-future, the humans might even have access to fusion explosives, plus thermonuclear weapons, so the threat of poisoning the living hell out of what they want is much less, although they'll only really have to use weapons of that level if they're in a -very- bad spot. Otherwise, though, AoE weapons like the MOAB, FOAB, various thermobaric weapons, and even high-yield conventional explosives are probably going to be the big trump cards the humans have, along with standoff weapons and missiles/artillery in general. The humans are going to have a very massive range advantage over the ponies, especially if they're using hypersonic missiles/bombers by the time this 'war' happens. Hell, chances are that the lasers that they're testing against UAVs and railguns might even be viable for military use by then. As for Medusa and the like, I could probably explain why she hasn't been seen yet (or something else that is used) by saying that she was previously imprisoned in Tartarus. The humans might even have an advantage in getting past Cerberus and whatever else because they know their weaknesses, too (assuming they're very much like in Greek myth). Additionally, going off of your prior theory that the ponies aren't generally very trained in the art of warfare (even Shining armor and the Mane 6, even though they've fought villains and can clearly fight, I've yet to hear that they've seen the horrors of war), they'd probably be very easy to scare and intimidate. Even machinery that they've never imagined before, like fighter aircraft, naval craft, and tanks, could be very frightening to any one of the ponies. If you've seen "Apocalypse Now", there's a scene where US troops in UH-1s use "Ride of the Valkyries to intimidate North Vietnamese villagers and Viet Cong by playing it during their assault. Although I'm not suggesting the human military forces play intimidating songs en-masse (unless that happens to be a good idea), propaganda, visual demonstrations of the more powerful human weapons, and other similar things (plus the stuff I mentioned before) could be very good at demoralizing or even routing such a poorly trained military force.
  6. What about taking apart the Elements in order to find out what makes them tick (so to speak) and creating a facsimile/faux-Elements of Harmony? If not that, some way of defeating Discord that is something other than a plot device? If the human invaders do manage to effectively wipe out resistance as to begin colonization, Discord is still going to remain a thorn in their side as long as he exists. A massive one. In the end, I guess it might be best to go with your original suggestion, and perhaps also say that human weapons can affect Discord, although only to a very small extent and when he isn't paying attention to whatever strikes him and thus is unable to defend against it.
  7. Thanks! That'll be a huge help, and I do now realize that I was perhaps making it a bit -too- easy for the humans, which wasn't my intention. As for the EoH, perhaps reverse-engineering them could be the sort of final, decisive action that the invading humans take, assuming they get to that point, because I really don't see them being able to take care of Discord in any other way. In the case of the Princesses, though, it's probably true that using hostages would be the best way to effectively neutralize them, although, even if they do surrender, what happens next would largely vary depending on what everyone else does. In fact, i can imagine one of the more stubborn Mane 6 or one of their relatives getting a little -too- stubborn for some of the soldiers, or perhaps accidentally causing one of them to open fire and actually inspire some resistance against the human invasion. That all relates to how ponies would feel about surrendering to the influx of colonists and soldiers. Perhaps the humans might even be able to negotiate inside assisstance from the Changelings in dealing with the Princesses, perhaps in turn for big sources of love, even like Cadence herself, although the primarily neutral-yet-desperate jhumans would have issues dealing with a decidedly evil race such as the Changelings.
  8. I've recently been planning out a fan fiction which would revolve around a hypothetical human invasion of Equestria, and a possible sequel involving a subsequent human occupation of Equestria, but, in the process of planning the sabotage that the invading humans would engage in prior to the actual invasion (disabling/destroying the Elements of Harmony, removing the Princesses from the equation, etc.) , I came upon a few questions and encountered some issues in the planning itself. If any of you would be willing to answer some or all of the following questions, it'd be a huge help. Thanks! 1. Would it be too much for the humans, assuming that this roleplay takes place far into the future, to find a way to effectively nullify Pegasus weather magic, or various types of magic in general? I've yet to work out how this would be done, so help there would also be appreciated, but I'm currently going off of the idea that magic is psionic in nature, since I really don't have much to base it on. 2. Assuming the above is possible, would it too much of a stretch for the Elements of Harmony (the physical objects, not the Mane Six) to be reverse-engineered, or even manipulated to be used against the ponies? I only really mention this specifically because Discord would be a massive problem to deal with for an invader, especially since he's been freed and reformed. 3. How would one go about neutralising beings as powerful as the Princesses? Would it be possible to get rid of them using non-magical means, or would some method of manipulating magic have to be utilised? 4. How can I avoid portraying the humans as plain old badguys? I want to avoid the typical situation where the invaders are nothing but evil. I'd rather give them reasonable motivation to engage in an invasion, if possible.
  9. I've been having a lot of trouble finding any stores that sell MLP merchandise in Phoenix AZ, where I live. I'm also going to San Francisco in two days, so, I was hoping that a larger city might have a higher number of stores that I can find MLP (not necessarily a place that is solely dedicated to MLP, anything with a decent selection) merchandise at. So, for my question: Do any of you know of stores/a store where I can find MLP merchandise?
  10. -I like Jpop more than any kind of American pop. -Rap is pure awful. -Paranormal activity was not scary and never will be. -CoD is just the same crap regurgitated repeatedly on a horribly outdated graphics engine. -Democracy and Communism are inherently flawed. Meritocracy is the way to go. -Taylor Swift needs to stop bitching and blaming crap on everybody else. -Obama is not, has not been, and will not be a good president. -I'm not a Democrat (suprisingly amount of hate for that one. I don't have much respect for internet dems because of of that) or a Republican. -The US does NOT needs to spend $600bil USD on their military to remain powerful.
  11. Ever heard of Social Anxiety disorder and Dev. Dyspraxia? yeah, they don't tend to help very much in the whole dating scene. Crap memory, lacking motor skills, extreme nervousness, etc. On the upside, I'm only 14. And, to be honest, I don't really care about what a bunch of fundementalists and assholes think about me and my lack of dating/being a brony. (Arizona... Living here is painful as an Atheist, haha,)
  12. even if Lyra does win, I will know the truth: That Fluttershy is the most attractive/adorable pony. I wish I could upl lad so me. Pi c S, but my iPad is being annoying.
  13. Lolno. This is one of those times I'm glad I keep guns in my house.
  14. s I, uh, hmmm.... I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now. Vote for the pony version of my Waifu, for vote or sexy Octavia? Goddamnit. I seem to be at an impasse.
  15. I'm 14, by the way. 1. Do you know how to use a rotary phone and have you ever dialed one? If so, how long ago? A: Yeah, my grandparents had one, they taught me how to use it. 2. Did you have an early part in your life without Internet access? Parents disallowing it because you were too young doesn't count. A: Nope. 3. What is the earliest national or world crisis you have a first hand memory of? Most of you will probably say September 11. A: Probably the Kosovo War. 4. Can you recall if your family had an old-fashioned TV with dials on it? A: They didn't. 5. Can you tell me what it's like to read about Saddam Hussein, Bill Clinton, the reunification of Germany, 9/11, and Hurricane Katrina in history textbooks? A: What do you mean by what is it like? I guess, if anything, the information on those topic rarely ever has close to the entire story. Some mistakes in the textbooks, even. I still research those things on my own time, though. 6. Do you or does anybody in your family refuse to carry a cell phone? Again, parents disallowing it because you were too young doesn't count. A: Nope. 7. Do you remember old school 5 1/4 inch floppy disks for computers? Maybe you're so young you don't even remember the 3.5 inch disks that were discontinued just a few years ago? A: I remember both of them. Still have a bunch of old ones I don't use lying around. 8. When was the last time you used the Yellow Pages to look up a phone number? A: A few weeks ago. 9. What was the first cartoon you fell in love with? Don't say MLP:FiM. You're all supposed to be at least 13 so I know you have a well-liked cartoon from before that. Spongebob. Hate it now. 10. Do cartoons from the 1980s look and sound as dated to you as cartoons from the '60s appear to me? A: I didn't really watch many of the 80s cartoons, but I love shows like Macgyver, the A-Team(The TV show), Hogan's Heroes, and Get Smart(The TV show). Oh, and the classic Looney Tunes. I guess I did like Ren Stimpy and Dragonball Z, but I bucking hated Ash Ketchum. So, that would be a yes.
  16. I get the feeling Lyra would be a little less-than-happy about the way humans are right now. You know, with the hellhole that has become the Middle East(Nothing against people who lvie there or are from their, it's mostly some of the governments and some radicals) and North Korea, and all of these shootings.
  17. Okay, maybe Lyra is sexy(haha), but Twilight wins out in the end on the personality side for me. Solely in terms of attractiveness, Lyra would PROBABLY win for me. I like Twi's personality more because she's into the kind of stuff I am. As in the various sciences, she likes to read, etc.
  18. I'm going with Twilight because science. Yeeeeeeeeah. Science. Also, because Twilight is just about as "nerdy" as me. Maybe not that much, but close. Intelligent, sexy, cute/kawaii at times, how could you not vote for that pony? Edit: FS is losing? She's too similar to my waifu, I can't let that happen!
  19. To all of those syaing it's just comedy or you don't get what's hateful, they say we were "confusing individuality with "being a sociopath."". That's pretty damned hateful, blatantly calling an entire fanbase sociopath because of an author's negative opinions about a few people. because evrything you disagree with is wrong, and the actions of a single perso represent everyone that can be clumped together with them (Not saying I think the stuff they listed is wrong). It's like saying that all whites are slave owners or that all germans are Nazis, but less obvious and severe. Not to mention the lack of any real research. A few other things: We are all apparently cloppers, not that I have anything against them, indicated by: HoofBeat and its devastatingly uncomfortable sequel are the end result of about a dozen brony artists combining their talents to provide unequivocal proof that they are masturbating to My Little Pony Also, the scathing comments on Fallout: Equestria: Between the graphic rape and sex scenes and numerous gory deaths, it manages to be a spot-on representation of what would be screaming inside the mind of a schizophrenic toddler as he beat his mother to death with a toaster. If that is comedy, it's some of the most unhumorous comedy I've ever seen. It doesn;t seem like comedy, though, and trolling your readers doesn't usually go well. Oh, in case anyone is wodnering, i'm not freaking out just because I'm being indirectly made fun of. I'm a Canadian, so I've been the butt of a number of Canada jokes too.
  20. John De Lancie is pretty awesome. He played Q in a few of the Star Treks, too. Q was one of those characters you either loved or hated, haha. The character had a personality very similar to Discord, actually.
  21. Haven't seen it yet, but I really hope to watch it. Speaking of the fandom, its been a huge help to me over the few months I've been apart of it. I dealt with a bout of depression a while ago (T the point where I nearly killed myself), but actually started to get over my depression and suicidal thoughts since I've started talking with other bronies and started watching the show. Bouts with depression were pretty common with me, but they've stopped since I started watching. I love the show and the fandom. I also have a fine motor deficiency which makes it impossible for me to write properly(I write very slowly, and have trouble keeping my hands steady. They can shake a little bit when I write or draw, and I write very slowly), but I've started to improve a bit since I've started dabbling in pony art. The art style is much more friendly to the albeit minor disability that I have.it helps me with my paranoia and anxiety, too(I finally built up the courage to find help for my anxiety related insomnia), and that's finally getting better. All of this is because of the fandom and the show. And for all of that, I am truly grateful. Point is, it sounds like the documentary really got the point of the fandom across.

  23. Luminescent Prism straightened his bowtie, once more looking over his invitation to confirm that he went to the right address for the party. "Yup, this is the place!" she said to himself, before continuing to walk down the street and reaching the house. He stepped a single hoof into the doorway, then another, then another, and another, scanning the room for mares as he finished entering and summarily stepped to the side of the doorway. ~Hmmmm... Who should I make a move for first?~ He thought to himself, as if meticulously inspecting the number of beautiful mares in the building.
  24. So, I hear word from Princess Celestia in her Q & A that all the statues in Canterlot are Weeping Angels... Is this true?
