In the original premise, The rest of the main six(including FS and Pinkie) were more involved. When they think AJ is overworking herself, it's Twilight and RD who take AJ to the Spa(and Yes RD liking the spa was treated as a normal thing) while Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie handle the farm. They would have dealt with sentient Apple Seeds causing trouble. AJ gets too stressed at the Spa, constantly trying to fix things. In the end when the seeds are out of control, AJ goes to the farm and does her work really smoothly. They realize AJ is actually at her most relaxed when she's working

In the outline, it's changed so that Twilight and the rest of the Apples handle the farm work while the rest of the girls take AJ to the spa. In the outline, AJ is the one who feels out of her element, not being a spa person. During their time at the spa, most of AJ's time there is spent working on fixing or improving things. Twilight's having a hard time with the farm work, to the point where one by one she has to have Spike get one of her friends to help her. It gets to the point where Twilight just caves and goes to the spa to get AJ back, but when they arrive AJ is doing a ton of work there and is running the spa really well, and it turns out AJ is a really good spa pony. When it's time to go back to the farm she uses what she learned at the spa to fix up the farm. At the end of the day the Apples and the mane 6 have a picnic with AJ serving. AJ realizes that she needed the spa to shake up her routine and gain a new perspective

Also, there was a scene where AJ gives RD "the best massage she's ever had". Man they were really laying it hard for AppleDash in this one
