  1. Oh, here! While I'm back I should show off my up to date pony, Horseychasm. Points for getting the pun.
  2. Just thought I'd drop in to peruse for nostalgia's sake. Hope y'all are well. God bless.
  3. I thought I'd drop in to say hello to everyone and to let you all know that I had my Confirmation mass and first Holy Communion yesterday! I'm now officially a member of the Catholic Church! God bless you guys!
  4. In case any of you like gospel/hymns, I finished another album. Feel free to give it a listen! It's free, so the shameless self-promotion is slightly less shameful. ;3 Remember
  5. Heh, thanks! It feels so weird to wish someone a *happy* Good Friday. Service today was wonderful, but not particularly happy. No lights, no holy water, very somber. Beautiful though.
  6. Okaaaaaay. I see the thread's still going, that's good to see! Everyone doing all right?
  7. Hey guys! Dropped in to check on the thread for the first time in...uuuhhhhh way too long. Just thought I'd say hello and wish you a wonderful Holy Week! *leaves for another year*
  8. I really love the English Standard Version and the Holman Christian Standard Bible for reading and studying. They're stellar as far as accuracy goes, and they're clear and readable. The ESV also has some amazing resources and a great study bible.
  9. I don't want to sound like I'm advertising or anything, but I figure some of you on here might be interested to know that I just finished a gospel/worship album. If you like Christian music, give it a listen! https://zachross.bandcamp.com/album/stained-glass-doors
  10. In case anyone listens to Christian music around here, I wanna recommend Rich Mullins. The guy was fantastic and has a truly fascinating story. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rhGOosxTLrY
  11. I'm no great authority on the Catholic or Orthodox church, but since people have been discussing it a lot lately, I figured I'd offer a new perspective. When it boils down to it, the thing that matters in ANY denomination, any form of Christian tradition or form of worship, is the gospel. The Word of God revealed to us in Jesus is EVERYTHING we need to know what is true and good and what is false and wrong. If a church holds the real, unaltered gospel as the complete authority over their worship, then logistics really don't matter that much. It's why Jesus told people "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me." Jesus was very clear that only His way was the way to salvation, and everything else was unnecessary. Whether that message is taught through a Baptist church or a Catholic church, I don't care, as long as it's preached. I have plenty of problems with both the Protestant and Catholic church, but the churches I have been to that are the healthiest and most vibrant are the ones who realize that only the gospel of Jesus Christ and the unfiltered Word of God are their authority. So yeah, hope I contributed. I'm really enjoying the discussions here!
  12. Well the first two verses you have there are talking about entirely different subjects. The context of Matthew 18:3 was that Jesus was telling his disciples the only way to enter the kingdom of heaven was to recognize their helplessness before God and come to Him in sincere faith and humility like a child would. 1 Corinthians 13 is talking about spiritual gifts and love in the church, and is arguably referencing the return of Christ. I'm not sure what the confusion is about 1 Corinthians 11:1 is, though.
  13. Please do stay on track guys. Again, this isn't a debate pit. I love discussion as much as the next guy, but don't use this thread as a place to try to prove or disprove the legitimacy of Christianity. This thread has been fantastically friendly, so be responsible and don't ruin that. Thank you.
  14. Dang man, that's it in a nutshell. Really great word there. As long as Jesus is the crux of your faith and you follow him, you can't go wrong.
  15. I know, I'm actually really surprised this is going as well as it is. Super thankful, but surprised.
  16. These are exactly my thoughts. As I've said elsewhere on the thread guys, I appreciate discussion, but let's keep any hardcore discussion out of this particular thread. This is meant to be a relaxed place, not a place to interrogate others. Thank you!
  17. Oh, that's no problem at all! I just know how easy it is for new people to get flooded out by a lot of back and forth. It may honestly be worth it to start a thread specifically for (polite) discussion, as there are quite a few people here who seem to want to talk more in-depth. As for the name change, an admin messaged me and cleared it up; they were just trying to make the thread name more accurate. So, in the spirit of the thread's new name, let me ask you all a topical question: what's your favorite bible verse? I'll start! Mine's Galatians 5:1: "Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery."
  18. Hmm, I'm not sure. I don't remember seeing another post like this, but I suppose it's possible.
  19. No problem man, it's easy to do on a thread like this. Honestly, I love discussion, I'd just rather it be done privately so we don't clog up the thread and let other posts get lost in the flood. Also, a question in case any mods are reading this: did the title of this thread get changed without my knowledge? Because I did not name this thread "Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle." I'm a bit miffed that someone did this without telling me, and I'd like to know why they did.
