Fire Runner

Max managed a weak smile, making sure he didn't slip back into the depths of depression again. But he still felt a pang of sadness. Luckily for the green Pegasus, Unholy's presence combated that negative emotion better than any drink ever could. Two more waters arrived, along with some puzzled glances from the other patrons.

"So, was there anything here you wanted to visit specifically, or did you just want to take it all in?" Max said with slightly forced enthusiasm. Only drinking a fourth of the water, Max splashed the cold liquid onto his face, partly to cool off, and partly to snap himself out of his self inflicted funk.

 

(I'm good at writing emotional scenes? When did this happen?)

(OCC: yes! its so cute and tragic at the same time!   )

"I don't know, how about you choose where to go, I'll just follow." Unholy said with a happy-go-lucky smile now plastered to her face.

the smile began to disappear. "Is there anything wrong?" she asked Max, a bit concerned.

Scar smiled. "You better keep it safe...otherwise I probably wont do anything but...you still better keep it safe." He chuckled as they entered the bakery. With Fire still on his back, he walked up to the front counter and ordered two slices of cheese pizza. He dropped a few bits on the table as the baker placed their pizza on the counter, giving Scar and Fire a confused look as he did so...a griffin sitting on another griffins back is not something you see every day. Scar rolled his eyes and gave fire her pizza before walking out the door. "You better not get crumbs all through my feathers." He said.

"Don't ruffle your feathers about it, I promise I won't get crumbs in your feathers." Fire Runner told Scar before taking a bite of her pizza.

"mmmm... this is really good pizza." Fire mumbled through a mouth full of pizza.

she quickly finished her slice and checked to see is there was any crumbs in Scar's feathers.

(OCC: for the record everypony... I changed my name... this is "Autumn Dream", if you haven't figured that out already...)

(occ: oh ho ho! you think Twilight has a lot of books? think again! my room is so full of books i don't know where to put them all )

Ace smiled as they walked out if the mess hall just as another mare walked in but she seemed to be in a hurry so Ace decided not to bug her he turned to fire. "So, what room did you get? I got C1." Ace said as they came to the entrance of the library Ace opened the door and motion for Fire to enter "mares first."

Fire Runner stepped into the library then turned around to face Ace.

"oh... I got room C3..." she said, then quickly ended her sentence by tilting her head to one side and smiling at Ace.

Scar's eyes widened. "Oh no pony." He said in a rather high voice...he was quite obviously lying. "Okay...I suck at lying and I cant lie to you...Gladius is kinda dating Senator Diamond...Don't tell anypony because he was saying something about it ruining her reputation...or something...so don't tell anypony, okay ?" He said, as they neared a small bakery.

 

((To bed))

(OCC: anypony else just pictured Applejack's lying face on Scar?

She laughed a bit then a huge smile broke onto her face.

"I could spot that one coming from a mile away, but don't you dare fret, I'll keep their secret safe." Fire Runner said.

she quickly leaned forward and gave Scar a 'peck on the cheek'.

Scar laughed. "Don't worry my sweet. Gladius and I are going to-oh dear...we gotta eat quickly. I need to go meet Gladius. His marefr- I mean...friend...will probably be coming so you can chat with her while we train or something. I think she is a bit clingy." He said, picking up the pace a bit.

"oki doki loki. lets get there, eat, then get back as quickly as we can." Fire said, then paused.

"wait... who is Gladius' marefriend?" Fire asked, suddenly interested.

(OCC: i totally pictured me and my friend here... and me saying "ooooooo! i want to hear whats going on! give me the scoop!" )

Hugs. It is such a simple act, is it not? One wouldn't think that something so simple could hold such power. Yet here we find Max, who found all the comfort he needed in the embrace of a blind zebra pony mix. That comfort helped propel him out of the vices of depression. He felt a wave of warmth overtake his body, falling short of tears. And with it, his conscious mind regained the strength it needed to regain control of Max's actions. Max pulled away from the embrace of the blind mare with great reluctance, but knew that he acted out of line. 

"Sorry, don't know what came over me." Max said softly. He did not regret the action, but feared that he may have made Unholy uncomfortable, possibly damaging the new found friendship. And if there was one thing Max was currently in short supply of, it was friends. He was so happy to finally have some companionship, and he didn't want it ruined by a moment of weakness.

 

(Man, when did I get so sentimental?)

(OCC: dawh! there are so many feels! this scene is beautiful! )

(and now back to reality... )

"no, its alright... it truly is... I really needed that hug." Unholy said, flicking her tail back and forth playfully.

"now come on, cheer up buckaroo." Unholy said, nudging him a bit with her shoulder.

Ace fell out of his chair from the sudden outburst from Fire, who knew such a quite girl can get so loud. "Hahahaha that awasome! Lets go to the library!" Ace spead out the door before Fire could react the came back with a nerveis smile. "Uh, I don't know where the library is and I almost left you behind I apologize, ladies first"

Fire trotted up to him and flicked her wings out a bit then pulled her wings back in.

"Alright... lets get going then... I assume the library is probably on the main floor, most likely past the lobby..." Fire Runner said quietly to Flying Ace as she passed through the doorway of the cafeteria.

Now it seemed they were both drifting into the slums emotion known as depression. It was an awful place to be, and like a real slum, once you are in, it is very hard to get out of. Max has always been shunned by the higher class. He tried hard everytime he found himself in Sydneigh to appeal to these high class ponies, only to met with dirty looks whispered insults. One of Max's flaws is his issues with rejection. He always felt like it was his fault when faced with these situation. His sub-conscious took this moment of weakness in the conscious mind to assume control. Hoping to find comfort that would propel him out of the depressive slums of his mind, he instinctually reached out and hugged the nearest pony to him, which ended up being Unholy. 

Unholy hugged Max back, she didn't care what other ponies thought, but her mind was still in a different place...

When she was born, the zebras and ponies shunned her... she wasn't stripped enough to be a zebra and she wasn't close enough in looks to be a pony... the only 'pony' who ever cared for her other than her parents was her best friend and un-biological big sister; Zecora.

Ace gave a small chuckle "say when your done how about we go explore the ship see what else is on, I hear that this place has a library and other fun stuff." Ace said throwing away his fries then sat down patiently waiting for her replay 'say yes, say yes, say yea' Ace thought to himself.

Fire perked up when she heard him say library.

"they have a library! yes! yes! yes! yes! oh yes!" Fire cheered before eating her apple then standing up excitedly.

she quickly covered her mouth. "oh... I'm sorry... that outburst was uncalled for..." She muttered through her hooves.

. Ace smiled when she spoke "Fire Runner huh? That's a nice name" Ace smiled as he took a bite from his fries 'she seems nice, though a little shy but who knows maybe she'll warm up to me' ace thought enjoying his lunch. (Woo, ace is making friends now hopefully the ship wrong crash lol *wink wink)

Fire got up and grabbed an apple then trotted back over to Ace. she sat down next to him then pulled a knife out of her bag. she expertly peeled the apple in great speed. the peel, still in one piece, fell onto the table in front of her.

"I don't like the peel..." she muttered before  she started eating the apple.

Max found himself locked in 'eye contact' with Unholy. He found it easy to lose himself in this position.

"I...never had enough bits or motivation to come. I never have been very comfortable being in the upper class area of this city. I constantly get glares from everypony else. Like I am this peasant intruding in there high society." Max was quick to stop himself from slipping into depression, a trap he fell into too easily and often.

"Sorry, I shouldn't be bothering you with my issues." Max said, waving for the barkeep to bring over more water.

"no, I completely understand that. how ponies look down on other ponies... just because you're different then somepony else... and how you can't be accepted anywhere because you're between two worlds..." Unholy trailed off as her mind drifted towards a memory.

. Ace sat down next to her and shook her hoof, "names Flying Ace pleasure to met you!" Ace also used his tail to move about indicating his excitement. "Oh, yeah I was trained to talk with action as well... Oh silly me I never asked your name well, let me fix that. What's your name?"

Fire Runner wasn't really sure is she should trust this pony or not.

He seems nice enough... but its always the nice ones... she trailed off while in thought.

"m-my name i-is Fire Runner..." she barely squeaked out.

She dropped her ears again into a more comfortable position (pinned down).

Max chuckled at the blind mare's enthusiasm as she half dragged him towards the theater. Entering it, It was a huge, well crafted arena of music and performance. His job hit the floor as he looked around.

"Wow, this is incredible. I have never been in here, so finally entering is..." Mac decided not to gush, lest he make his new friend feel bad. He decided to lead them to a nearby drink stand.

"Can I get 2 waters please?" Max was starting to sweat from the intense heat outside. He after paying the barkeep, he handed Max two ice cold waters. Max handed one to Unholy.

"Here, lets take a second to cool off." He said shortly before downing the entire drink in on gulp.

Unholy took a sip of her water, then paused, then quickly chugged the rest of it.

"so, you really haven't been in here before?" Unholy asked Max, turning to him and flicking her tail back and forth.

I wonder why he hasn't been in here before... she pondered while 'staring' at him.

Ace looked over at the mate just as she looked down he put a hoof on his chin in thought then gave a smile, got up and walked over to her. "Helloooo, I couldn't help but notice that you were looking at me." Ace said giving a smile to let her know she hasn't offended him.

(btw that was to Autum Dream i typed this on iphone

Fire looked back up at Ace but didn't say anything. she flicked her tail and gestured to the seat next to her.

she extended a hoof and waited for Ace to shake it. Fire Runner looked into his eyes to let him know she was trying to be friendly. She twitched her tail back and forth as she waited.

"OK, lets make out way over there." Max said. He helped Unholy up and took her hoof into his, helping her down the hill the forest sat on. As they got farther away from the park and closer to the city, the sounds of civilization slowly returned. Max continued, never releasing Unholy's hoof. After 10 minutes, they stood in front of the Opera House.

"Here we are. I never get over the sheer size of this place." He said in awe. He looked down and saw that he had yet to let go of Unholy's hoof. He set it down gently.

"Forgot I was uh...never mind." Max's face flushed with a faint red hue.

"Shall we go in?"

"That the reason i wanted to come here, so i could go inside. I heard that the inside is beautiful and they have great food here." Unholy said, her eyes were sparkling with excitement.

"come on, lets go inside." She said, grabbing Max's hoof and dragging him through the door.

Max couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow when he heard that. He fluttered over to Unholy so that they were sitting next to each other. He put his hoof on her shoulder.

"You are anything but a burden. I have had an amazing time today. And for that, I thank you." Max said.

"How anypony could consider you a burden is beyond me."

Unholy turned to Max and smiled.

"i'm glad you don't see me as a burden... you're a really nice pony and im really glad that i met you." Unholy said happily as she flicked her tail back and forth.

"I-I want to go to the Opera house." Unholy said to Max, tilting her head to one side.

Scar chuckled. "Come on Fire. They're not worth it." He said, as the ponies moved away from Fire, obviously scared. Scar walked up behind Fire and jokingly picked her up. He placed her over his shoulders and walked towards the bar.

"well shucks, i wasn't gunna' light them on fire or anything." grumbled, crossing her arms in front of her.

Her feathers stopped flickering and laid flat again.

"you better beat The Ripper tomorrow, im tired of ponies looking at me funny." Fire said, poking Scar on the top of the head playfully

Ace walked into the mess hall, he didn't want to unpacked until he got something to eat. "Let's see what's on the menu.....ohhhhh, hay fries." Ace got his food and sat down to eat as thoughts wondered about this cruise. 'This is what I need a nice vacation away from the theater'

Fire perked her ears up the looked at the other pony that had walked into the cafeteria. she tilted her head to one side as she awkwardly stared at him. She realized that she was staring at the pony in a funny way then quickly lowered her head and went back to eating her daisy sandwich.

she packed everything she had into a suitcase and quickly trotted towards the door. Fire Runner waved a hoof goodbye to her grandparents before trotting onto the ship. she looked around nervously then took a look down at her paper with her room number. the room assigned to her was room C3.

and I wonder where this might be... she thought as she walked through the ship.

her stomach growled as she passed the cafeteria, so she turned back around and walked in.

Fire Runner pointed at a daisy sandwich when the pony at the counter asked her what she wanted to eat.

Fire walked over to an empty table and sat down so she could eat her sandwich.

I thought Fire runner was a colt for a second... Not exaxtly a feminine name is it?

its my ponysona... though her back-story doesn't match mine, she just has the same personality as me :3

Scar chuckled. "You're just a little ball of joy aren't you." He said, grinning and walking out of the Arena onto the street.

A few ponies gave the both of them annoyed looks and Scar's grin faded...only to be replaced with a look of annoyance mixed with anger.

Fire caught the looks from the ponies and held their gazes.

"you have somethin' to say? well, do ya'?" Fire snapped, storming up the the ponies.

she might have been looking up at them due to her size, but she looked rather intimidating when fire was flickering off her feathers.

Vedana smiled as he was glad to hear that she was noticing the sound differences. "Good, because we are entering the hallroom and the throne of the Emperor. Throughout History Advisors, Generals, and those of nobility come here to eat alongside his majesty." The blind unicorn told her as there was no talking. "Ah good, no one is here, a quiet place to eat."

"N-nobility."Unholy stammered, a bit bewildered.

"It must be beautiful in here..." she said,not sure what to talk about.

Max noticed that when Unholy leaned against the tree he resided under, she sat pretty close to him. About 6 inches separated them.

"Well, if you want, we can go look for some other ponies from the train. I imagine you have a lot of friends from the Friendship Express." Max said. Without thinking, he moved over an inch to get closer to Unholy

"lots of friends..." Unholy echoed in almost a whisper.

yeah... i wish i had lots of friends... but nopony wants to be friends with me... she thought as she let out a deep sigh.

"I only have two friends from the Friendship Express... if i count you, i now have three... I've never been good at making friends... everypony just sees me as a burden..." Unholy trailed off.
