  1. This is a song about the Conversion Bureau, a 350+ fimfic universe centered around Earth's first encounter with Equestria. It initially occurs via an initial dimensional breach, a massive disaster which occurs over Hawaii. The action evolves into a doomsday scenario with humanity only having a selections of options for survival. Will humanity accept help from the Equestrians or see them as the alien invaders who are to blame for their situation? This 11 min track, complete with voice actors and dialogue from the fimfic The First Year, chronicles the plotpoints of the CB universe, and brings up many of the themes of other stories to follow.

  2. Summary: A dimensional breach occurs over Hawaii. The "hole in the sky" is basically a spreading dome where Equestria and Earth are merging. Problem is that Equestria is basically spilling into Earth (not vice versa) and that Earth is the loser. The dimensional breach allows Equestrians to journey over but the "portal" is enlarging and emitting magical "radiation" that is harmful to humans and threatening to make Earth uninhabitable. Thus a doomsday scenario.

Unicorn magic is also destructive on earth;  causing human technology to fault and break, humans to internally bleed if nearby when used. Pegasus too are shown to use a bit of magic in reversing gravity which is why they can actually fly. Celestia and Twilight (and some oc's) come over to aid humanity with this crisis. Many people see them as the "cause" as they emerged at the same time as the event. Religious types see them as demons in disguise. There is an underground "Human Liberation Front" that is conducting terrorist actions against those equestrians who do come to aid. Many blame the equestrians for this "alien invasion" and the threat to their planet.

What scientists find is while they cannot immunize against equestrian magic and radiation they can use a serum that they develop to "ponify". So it ultimately becomes a choice for humanity; fight, flight (and eventual death), or ponify (and come to terms with a strange new form and likely a small personality change). Many of the stories spend a lot of time on these more personal stories. The end result though is that equestrians can only save humanity by helping mankind lose their humanity. Thus an ethical dilemma…..

  3. First and foremost, thanks to Injustrial for his synths, vocal, track mastering, and patience in getting this long winded project completed. I've been a fan of his amazing Industrial music and getting to collab with him on this from the start was a great experience. Congrats to him on hitting the the 1k mark now.

Thanks also to the voice actors who contributed, many of them quite awhile ago. Really appreciate their help on doing a great job on their parts and adding to this complicated song.

Valinye Cerveau - did 3 PMV's a long time ago that are part of this larger pmv. They're fantastic on their own but helped give this pmv a lot of its look. Thanks again for permission https://www.youtube.com/user/Valinye/
Other PMV - Hidden Shoal, Also some other borrowed video footage from around the net.

    Art Pieces:
So much of the art for the Conversion Bureau has been done by Chatoyance / Aealacreatrananda  http://aealacreatrananda.deviantart.com/

Without those great images the CB universe would have only a fraction of its fanbase I think.

  4. Wonderful blog post. I think many people forget that part of making art (even freely given) is getting postitive feedback and some small form of notoriety. Otherwise it seems our creations and ourselves barely cease to exist.

Not sure if you've read the Rarity chapter in the fimfic Background Pony but i feel its practically required reading by Rarity fans, as it really delves into who she is and why she does as she does. Really great deep reading.

  5. Good points. I mean Disney and Pixar, are just for kids but they've never been more relevant and popular as quality cinema than this decade. Comic book characters should be "just for kids" but tell that to all the people who go out and see the Avengers, Spider-man, and X-Men and make them the biggest movies of the decade. Equally with Harry Potter which has young and old fans alike. MLP sadly is more anchored down to "just for kids' by its official toy line then anything. Yes its the bronies who really have done more to say it's much then that through their own creations (art, music, fiction, etc).

As for "Adult shows" i remember when Bravo was about art, design, and a strong pro-LBGT agenda. Now that's been unsurped by reality shows about rich yuppies who contstantly fight and are terrible human beings. It's a shame that creativity and ingenuity are not given the same respect that it used to have and it's been replaced with trash culture.

  6. Not sure why people are surprised that YAC is the most despised well known musician in the community. He has continually made wrong move after wrong move. I'm sure he's happy being the bad boy of the community and playing the rebel but most musicians won't have his back now or ever.

And this was before Everfree NW con was nearly ruined by the man

Yeah the community is being incredibly petty and dumb since the year drought of pony content occurred. Either hang in there and wait for season 4 or move on. But no one needs to beg anyone back or dare anyone to argue for them to stay. It's better to see people leave then to ragequit publically as that's just as useless and attention-seeking. Yes plenty of our fandom sucks right now, plenty does not. But yeah this fandom does not do well w/o fannon powering the ship.

  7. Yeah its a decent show and I've watched the previous years show and it was rather decent. Gordon Ramsey is actually a rather decent guy (on his UK Kitchen Nightmares he's a little less volatile and on the F Word he was very sociable) so he does go savage mostly for Hell's Kitchen.

Do you not watch To Chef by the way on Bravo? That's my favorite cooking series easily. I even keep score from season to season.

  8. Just to confirm so you would be highlighting pony tracks on your personal blog in here (like this one) for now and then on pony.fm main page after? While i like the idea of an alternative EQD (there were a few blogs before that did it for a short while) I'm just not sure if there really is enough visbility from outside of here or even within until pony.fm goes live....

  9. One thing I didn't see in here which i think is an important criteria is if the track is "pony" ie a track about MLP in fashion. Some of the younger musicians seem to think playing around in FL studio, putting a generic electro house track together, and slapping on a pony image is a pony/brony track and it really is not. Showing how the song is influenced by MLP is just part of the musical context that musicians should be following as that's part of the challenge.

Here's a case in point and a discussion about that subject and with Seth (EQD) of all people http://mylittleremix.com/viewtopic.php?t=5814. Still a good read even though once again musicians urged him to give rejection letters TO musicians (to help them improve and to acknowledge they received the submission) and that didn't occur (or fell on deaf ears).

  10. Yeah EQD can still drop the ball a LOT. As you said sometimes it is a "drawing from the hat" approach and also focuses on the same artists for a lot of the full spotlights. I'm at least glad for the music of the day spotlights which highlights a lot more music then they used to but sometimes even that doesn't happen.
