Yup a bit of hypocrisy in the show. I guess only in fanfiction will she think about the after effects of suddenly being a carnivore.

I don't hate Spike as a character but they have a had a ton of poor Spike episodes from the last couple seasons. I don't want him written out, I just don't want to see him as a focus and done badly.

HIE can be quite enjoyable if done right. Waving them off as all good or all crap is pretty dumb tbh. Talking about them in general w/o any recommendations doesn't really push the fandom forward toward the better ones. My Top 5 recommendations are Your Human and You - For Equus, humans have always been viewed as animals, creatures that could neither think nor reason. That's the way it has been since humans were first discovered nearly a thousand years ago. All that changes for Twilight Sparkle, newly crowned princess of Equestria, when she finds out that her human is as intelligent as she is. There's excellent action later on, but the real strength lies in the collision between the friendly and naive world of Twilight Sparkle and the desperate world of humans fighting a losing war for survival and willing to do anything to turn the tide." Hahaha no i don't see evil symbolism being used by Hasbro in Twilight or Celestia. And if Lyra and Bob Bon came out as officially gay I wouldn't suddenly hate their characters either. That said if someone wants to breathe a whole lot of outside influences into what is still an innocent kids show and some people stop buying merchandise then who's to stop them from doing so, People can be really silly about this show sometimes.

Better be careful that is how Friendship is Optimal begins....

I liked her character and the need for Twilight to come to terms with being a bad friend to those in Canterlot. I certainly loved the glasses and pulled back hair. While i LIKED her similarities to Twilight in her attitudes i didn't like that they did an exact replica of Twilight's mane for some of the photo shots. While that's common practice for Hasbro to do (change colors to existing mane 6 mane's and voila new pony merchandise) I thought that was really lazy not to differentiate between the two better. It seemed she was way too much like a "clone" of Twi in every retrospect. Hopefully the fanbase can continue to do more with her if Hasbro does not. I'd love to see brushables of her and Treehugger but we shall see if Hasbro misses obvious ways to sell merchandise and satisfy the fandom. .

I disagree tbh. I feel pretty similar to the op. i don't hate the show and I still watch it occasionally and I like but don't think they are up to the same standard. I don't rewatch new eps even though i still record them., Seems like some of the maturity is missing from the fandom and far too many meme chasers. Silly youtube comments and videos are now the norm. Worst part is I don't feel the strong community connection i felt before. It feels like i could die in a car crash and no one would even know (or care). Everytime i come to an mlp forum to see if i still find good conversations and i'm often disappointed by what's posted. So what I am saying is that there are probably many people who visit mlp forums because it's a familiar home and we still like but don't love the show and the fandom. I think many people are saying long and drawn out goodbyes.

The episode definitely hits that theme very well and I have no doubt that was part of the point. Do I like season 5 better now? Not really....but maybe I'll try a LITTLE harder to.

I really disliked a lot of season 3 as its1/2 the length and had very uneven episodes and few great ones. Season 4 seemed like more of a return to form (although not better then season 2). Season 5 is pretty weak I feel so far. While i'm happy they are taking mini breaks so they don't blaze through the season I haven't really LOVED any episode this season so far (like top 20 episodes love). That includes the 2-part opener which is kind of weak in the conclusion (but overall good), the Griffonstone which was fun and well needed return of Gilda (but weak in parts), and even Episode 100 seems like a one-off that could be quickly forgotten because the lore was already there, Hasbro just reinforced most of what we had already created. Overall the show this season is just missing that magic, that has been there in the past, to really make it GREAT again in my book. It's sad but I feel that's the case (so far).

Personality wise I find the whole shy thing very cute and adorable. She's one of my favs. Then again when it comes the mane 6 I wouldn't say no...even to RD

I'm pretty sure that people called "shy" are often introverts and do well once they are with friends they feel confident with. It doesn't mean they stop being "shy" it just means that they are comfortable around a smaller group of friends. Throw Fluttershy in a crowd of strangers and she's more likely to show those same traits. D: being reserved or having or showing nervousness or timidity in the company of other people. synonyms: bashful, diffident, farouche, timid, sheepish, reserved, reticent,introverted, retiring, self-effacing, withdrawn, timorous, mousy,nervous, insecure, unconfident, inhibited, repressed, self-conscious,embarrassed So yeah she IS shy but not around her friends and she has gotten "better" over the 5 seasons, baby steps.....

Gotta remember too that Spike's selfishness has been pointed to be part of his dragon heritage. While some may find than he's been weened of that by ponies I'm sure that's part of the reason he consistently falls on selfish behavior in episode after episode.

Oh for Octavia and Vinyl Scratch romance fic i have to recommend University Days. It's wonderful.
