  1. Rarijack album will hopefully come out this week. Making the last couple of touches right now.
  2. She is basically a wilderness expert and has to contend with all those animals. While she's NOT a great flier she's likely pretty dang sturdy and tough for a pegasus. Especially on the ground where they don't normally stay.
  3. New track. I was inspired to do a ponified electropop cover of R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People as it originally is about Communist Propaganda that fits The Cutie Map's themes well. I like the idea of a happy electropop tune with a sinister message underneath. I haven't made a track in under a week in a long time and it was great practice doing that and also using a vocoder (Jackleapp / Glaze style). Anyway I hope you enjoy
  4. Never thought I'd see a whole episode about the dangers of communism, let alone a 2-parter. Good episode even if a little preachy. Some deeper symbolism there underneath.
  5. Thank you so much!! Was a big treat!
  6. Wow it's been 4 months since my last new track on my channel. Just published a Katy Perry cover with vocals by the wonderful Racheveyc and amazing anthro art by Atryl. Hope you enjoy.

  8. New Maressey track, featuring Bloo, Andante Skie, and myself Things have taken a turn for the worse between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. After missing a dinner date, Dash shows up the next day reeking of sweat and cider. She then tells a constantly evolving story of fighting off an army of attackers. How can their relationship prevail when she can't tell her marefriend the honest truth? Allllmost have Rarijack album completed. coming super soon. Flutterdash not far behind....

  10. Even giving names is likely not allowed. But i think ASK blogs, NSFW blogs in GENERAL, and the mega gallery art SFW tumblr's seem to be the most popular. Tumblr's a great platform in theory but i know i've always been a bit disappointed by how slowly it takes for sites to grow unless they truly catch on like wildfire or if people don't post several times a day.
  11. I appreciate having an active female community in the fandom. TBH I wish there were more. You would think it should be 50/50 but unless things have changed that's not the case.
  12. New Maressey Track It's cider season and Big Mac has yet another awkward encounter with an eager Cheerilee. As is usual with most of the mares in Ponyville he is aggressively (and on this night drunkenly) hit on, despite the fact he has no interest in the company of mares. This is also a ponified cover of The Smiths classic. Vocals for this track are by the amazing Luna Jax. He did a fantastic job on vocals and I thank him very much for continuing his excellent run of being the go to for Big Macintosh songs in the fandom. And I am Freewave who did the rest of the music. Mixing, mastering, and organizing of this project.

  14. New episode tonight and every prior episode leading up to that. WOOT!
  15. Well if you'er going to compare them you really need to differentitate who does what. Disney's XD has the amazing Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yander, Star Wars Rebels, and the new and vey hip Star vs The Forces of Evil (should be a hit as well). But Cartoon Network has Teen Titans Go, Gumball, and Adventure Time. Dragging down Cartoon Network: Regular Show is running out of steam, Clarence might have heart but is visually ugly, Steven Universe might have same issue, and Uncle Grandpa let's face it has always sucked. It's a pretty close matchup and maybe Disney XD has the edge. Certainly the webcam footage sandwiched between every Cartoon Network show seems to cement that the channel is only "for kids" which is a huge drawback. Why limit your audience when plenty of young and older adults love all-ages cartoons?
  16. That's where the fandom can really go and create new mythology. Like the adorable and unlikely shipping of Maud and Trixie for example, Lyra's fascination with hands and humans, Derpy's love of Muffins (and a certain time travelling Doctor) and a certain "winning" pony (Cloudkicker) And that's just the tip of the Iceberg. If it wasn't for background poinies there wouldn't half the fandom we have today. I came for the cartoon. I STAYED for the fandom.
  17. Waiting a week before submitting again is always a good idea but there's often a week delay during the "review" process so it's up to you. Defnitely don't send them 2 things at once . Also i don't understand those ppl who put their new full albums in one ytube. WHY. (looking at you Jeff Burgess!!) Stagger those track releases.
  18. 1. Make the type of music that you enjoy making. If you make orchestral then be the best at it you can (look at Makkon, Carbon Maestro, and other people who've had great success) If possible you can always mix in electronic elements or lyrics and vocals to further diversify your music and open it up to others. One of my favorite older remix i did was turn Star in Autumn's orchestral track into a dance remix (and i did a trance remix of Makkon's track too) and there's no reason why that shouldnt happen more. Stars eventually started doing more and more electronic until he gave up on orchestral completely. So follow your own path but don't be afraid to stray from it. 2. I hate to say it but EQD runs the brony community at this point. I can put a new track out there, i have 2k+ subscribers, but until EQD jumps on it it sits out there with only a few hundred views. Once EQD spotlights or MOTD's your track that fire is alight. Until then it's just sitting there doused in gasoline. Subscibers are incredibly important in letting you know if you're doing something well, but many people wait to be fed music by EQD rather than any other method. That's not to say you shouldn't try any alternate methods that available to you or look forward to steady growrth as people discover yoiur channel and music. .
  19. Depression for me is something that comes and goes. What I need to realize is that life is a series of highs and lows. While the lows definitely suck a better day is just around the corner. It's important to give yourself some creative leeway to put a wip down when you don't have the strength to be creative and positive about your work. Or work on something that channels that current glum mood (if you can). Also complaining to a friend can help lift that cloud sooner. Saying "I should just quit" when these moods hit isn't constructive and often just stops all your creative energy which can be used in a more constructive manner. If depression is a constant problem and you can't escape it, get professional help. You won't do it on your own if it is that bad a problem. You may need medication if you have a chemical imbalance or someone to talk to if you seriously need to work through unresolved issues or make steps to fix problems in your life.
  20. Anyway you look at it it has changed from the beginning days of the music scene and what it is now. Part of it was it was completely new, scene when it was happening, and there was very much a collaborative and supportive scene back then. Look at how often Mic the Microphone,, Tombstone, Toaster, and Jackleapp worked on each other's tracks. Most hung out on mylittleremix and in chats to gether. I could endlessly go on about how things may have been easier back then during that first year or two. They pushed each other into being the well know names they are now... The scene now seems much larger of course but much less of a community then it was back then. People weren't trying to be "famous" then, but people do care a bit more about that now or look to the heights that some have reached. It's also a much smaller audience for music out there and many more new people around (from good to bad) and few veterans. Plus we are between seasons which lowers overall interest. Don't set your goals based off others views as that will likely be depressing anyway you look at it. Getting back to your questions, the best thing you can do is try not to focus on setting popularity goals for yourself but look towards improving. On your music, on how you write (songs with words are generally more popular than instrumentals), on how you make your videos. It's important to enjoy what you are doing but also see ways to make it better. Collaborating with others who can do what you can't (sing or play guitar for example) is a big plus and can show you better ways to make music and also create a network of peers that you'll need to befriend and get feedback from. Look to see what you can differently from others in ways to stick out from the herd. Doing genres that others don't do, making fancier pmv's, handling mlp topics that aren't often covered are key things. Collect your tracks as albums so you can have common themes to your work can help. Mastering genres that you love is another (and will give you a sound to your name). Don't forget if you're a brony musician that you include that inspiration as part of your music so you don't make generic pino like far too many musicians. Always submit to EQD and take what you get. It may suck when you hope for a spotlight and get a motd but that's only part of the hurdle. Really its how good the track is as a whole and how many people like it that makes something popular. Sometimes EQD misses the boat for something safe and typical and others grow support on being bold and different as word of mouth takes over. But whatever you do make sure you enjoy the creativity of making music and keep it fun, aim to continually improve, and realize that its a lot of work. It may take years to get truly "good" and there's a ton of luck involved in getting the recognition you deserve.
  21. So this is an update to progress of the four themed Maressey albums. I was hoping we'd get to the character arcs where songs start telling stories of several ships, with each song telling a different chapter of that storyline over its course. The best place for this to happen is with the album releases so each album has a theme. Therefore I've proposed collecting the songs in 4 themed albums, with one for Rarijack, Flutterdash, Twiluna, and one a general bronies topics theme. Four just works for the amount of character themes involved and the progress so far on each. Overall this project examines the difficulties of having relationships within different personalitie and what happens when friendships are stretched by having different goals in life. I've gone with Lauren Faust's original concept to have Rarity and Dash fulfill their dreams outside of Ponyville but also the costs of such a departure. The biggest theme of all is how things change and we often feel the loss of tearing away of those bonds. Here's the state of the four albums at this moment. The number indicates song progress. 5 is a completed song and in bold, 4+ range has an instrumental and a vocal with it in the mixing stage. 3's often have a far along instrumental but are needing a vocal or further instrument work. 2's or lower are very much a wip instrumental draft or perhaps have nothing yet if lower. Any song that is crossed out could have been part of the album if someone took charge and made the song but is otherwise not likely going to be attempted to make it just due to time constraints. They are non essential to album completion so we are likely skipping them. Can't make every Maressey song into a reality. At this point the first 2 albums are very far along, the other 2 have time to be completed. Every planned album songs has at least a far along wip. First Album (Rarijack theme, includes Big Mac, Sweetie Belle, and Spike) 10 songs. This album is closest to done so will be the focus to release first. RED - Checked out but don't have vocal yet, BLUE - needs a vocalist This Charming Mare (Rarity's Song) Morte Mcadaver + Johnny Mare Braeburn It Was Really Nothing (the Braemac song) 5 Jeff Burgess + Johnny Mare Pretty Mares Make Graves (CheeriMac) Luna Jax + Freewave The Mare With The Thorn In Her Side (The Rarijack Song) Jeff Burgess + Johnny Mare Colt Afraid (SweetieMash song) Simul and Bloo + Freewave Panic (Hang the Dubstep Dj) Andante Skie + Freewave Manehattan (Rarity's Song) Jokeblue Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now (Coco Pommel's Song) Zatslol I Won't Share You (Spike's Song) Simul + Freewave I Know It's Over (Rarity's Song) Warbalist and Wife Second Album (Flutterdash includes Scootaloo + Discord) 9 songs Ask (The Flutterdash song) 5 Evdog and Starbreeis Last Night I Dreamt That Somepony Loved Me (Scootaloo's Song) 5 Evdog + Zatslol Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before (Dash's Song) 4.6 Bloo Still Ill (Dash's Song) 4.3 Vaceslav The Headmaster Ritual (The Flutter Abuse Song) * 4.6 Starbreeis What Difference Does It Make? 22. Blue snowball is a good basic microphone but if you ever want to do better sounding ones (vocals for songs) it falls a little short. Blue Yeti is a good step above it. Here's some other recommendations from FIMMUSIC for those looking for additional advice. http://fimmusic.tumblr.com/tagged/microphones Not recommended ^
  23. Andy Price says maybe....but again who cares when awesomeness > logicality
  24. Same boat as a lot of people. I don't let my parents or my work know. My kids love the show, my wife tolerates it. I enjoy the creativity of making music and blogging in my spare time. So the pony thing is an in-house deal. I've gone to a few local ponycons and of course it's easy to just be yourself there and be with fellow fans. But I do think one of the drawbacks of being a "brony" (having the show be a big part of your life) is that you often can keep your love of it to yourself and withdraw from some of your RL friends. I've got a few long-time friends that likely have an inkling because of my same steam avatar and all the mlp groups i'm a member of on there. But the subject doesn't come up and I think that works for both of us. If it comes up I'll answer truthfully and hope its not weird. I find many RL extended friends and acquaintances facebook posts about day to day life a bit boring and I bet they'd be weirded out by ponies and brony topics on my tumblr. On one hand its living a virtual life but it just feels like a better fit then the alternative and I live it as I want to. .
