Seeing as how they are launching a toddler toy line for MLP now I would say the answer is no. Stuff like Tirek fight did seem like something targetted towards Bronies but those are few and very far between. Season 2 with the Discord 2 parter and with Chrysalis seemed like a much more mature and darker themes for those episodes. The ending 2 parter for season 4 seemed like it was pulling its punches until the end and not terribly complex a plot. I would love it if the show matures with its target audience but I think to Hasbro that means investing more into Equestria Girls to go after those tweens who are now into Monster High and Ever After toy lines than making its main franchise more "epic". I am very glad that Hasbro abandoned its original goal not to have a chronological series. The fact they had ongoing plotlines in season 3+4 that came to conclusions in the finales are something that does require a steady fanbase that they have. The morales are only getting more complex because they've gone through several seasons already. Can't repeat the ones of the past.

But we have loads of threads on here about all kinds of things we don't like or question in the show. It's a forum and we speak our mind and that isn't always positive. Why some people think they need an entourage and a loudspeaker to broadcast their own views I don't understand. An opinion isn't creative, more important than anyone elses, or an artform to highlight on a channel. Your still criticizing a cartoon series that's still intended for a younger audience. Who's fault is that? Plus pointing out the negatives doesn't lead to fixing the problem. Hasbro's creative crew isn't paying attention to what any of the analysis community are saying or changing to make bronies happy...they are making plans for more Equestria Girls merchandise.... The problems continue. As there are no new episodes for quite awhile i don't see that there should be analysis community activity anyway so it's a moot point.

I agree with a lot of the statements above. That criticizing and pointing out the flaws of a show that we all are supposed to be celebrating leads to negativity, egotism often in the critic, and often a herd-like cult of personality. In short its not constructive because the creators of the cartoon series don't pay any attention TO the criticism and everyone should have their own opinion of an ep they view. You really don't need to have someone else's opinion become your own as MLP never will really be THAT deep or complex in the first place. If you poke holes in the cannon material it does have a negative effect as a whole. In effect the episode critics create nothing important OR very creative for the fandom unlike the artist, writer, or musicians. What is really missing in the fandom is reviewers of the fannon itself. We don't have many people reviewing the music, art, and fiction of the community and celebrating the gems in the rough and the people who make them. Instead we have EQD which is just a drive-by spotlight for what is hot this minute. That makes it really hard to create and feel loved when the community is only concerned with what is put out each week and they often barely even comment anymore. It's why so many people from PinkiePieSwear to SGAP to Le Soldat Pony eventually hang up their hats and move on. The writing of the show could be improved I think. I miss the days of seasons 1+2 where i enjoyed the episodes more and how i could replay them again and again. I do find a lot more flaws since season 3 and i hate the direction of Equestria Girls. Now should i invest my time in pointing out the flaws of the show (one aimed again for a younger audience and NOT adults?) as my contribution to the fandom? Or should we work on celebrating what we LIKE about the show and the fandom?

No one in here mentioned it, but i believe (based on prev talk) that it was written by an older brother to troll his younger brony brother. It was not written by a brony but by a troll to be as controversial and outrageous to the subject matter as possible. It's not truly representative of the fandom's dark or gorefics when it's not written BY a fan or someone who respects the show. It was successful in being very infamous but it's MEANT to be disliked. It's also been repetitively voted as the worst fimfiction, period.

Honestly that was 1/2 sec of a commercial of a superbowl ad. If anything it was a VERY small wake-up call. If Hasbro announces the date of the new season beginning that's when you'll truly see some much continued activity as bronies wake up from their extended hibernation.

I'm very glad she felt comfortable enough to make that decision and to announce it. I've met many transgender musicians through the mlp community and sometimes that's a public decision or it can sometimes be a hidden private decision that never gets announced. In a few cases I've seen some announce a switch and later recant. But either way the most important thing we can do is offer them our continued support in whatever choice they make and keep this a loving and welcoming community that's ahead of the curve in dealing with these issues.

Well that will be a shame if it isn't popular enough to remian a regular dubbed series. then again I'm sure they can continue watching S3+4 online in english w/o too much trouble. Maybe the delay in importing it didn't help.

We're definitely in an inbetween season drought (that is just as bad as it was between 3+4). Many fandom musicians and creators have left, some are more or less on hiatus, and some sites have shriveled up (Everfree being the big one). While some conventions close down, others get more special guests and become more popular. It's really hard to say if its truly shrinking, staying the same, or possibly growing. All i can say is it still feels kind of weird having no fuel (ie new episodes) to keep the fandom alight and it feels like all the old familiar sites are closing down for winter or aren't as healthy. Will it be wrapped up when a new season comes along? Maaaaybe?

JanAnimations was using puppets taken FROM Hasbro and was taken down (briefly in some cases, permanently with others). Journey of the Spark never got off the drawing board. And many fan animations while "popular" weren't anywhere near as good or a full episode. Bronies often create their own alternate universes very well in fimfics (Fallout Equestria, Your Human and You) or art pieces (many artists have single handedly done so). Animation IS a different environment because it is so cumbersome to capture the same level of stop motion production coupled with voice acting, background music, and a GOOD PLOT. What fans can do that Hasbro does not is stuff like 3-d model SFM videos. If anything that's where you will see the best of fan animations take form. NOT copies of what Hasbro does by mimicking what Hasbro can do better (22 min episodes with full seasons) with a paid production team paid by advertisements and a budget.

Their current toy line with the Rainbow Power is a joke and so is a LOT of the official merchandise (which is clearly not aimed at bronies in the slightest). It's Jan 2015 and no idea when season 6 is coming out. At some point Hasbro needs to remember the massive fandom they have following them as the pony faucet has been turned off for quite awhile.

The Rainbow Power line is such an abomination. I can't wait until they stop making those for the 5 min period of the last episode, they look horrible. Bring in some background characters and villains that would easily sell better.
