There are only two differences that I notices.

Justice Strauss lives across the street, not next to Count Olaf. Oh, and Justice Strauss claims she used to steal horses. 

It is very close to the book. There are only tiny changes. 

Oh, and Violet's hair is dark brown, not black. That's all I could notice.

It's FANTASTIC.

@Emerald Heart That doesn't sound too bad for differences. I don't recall Justice Strauss ever stealing horses in the book. So, that's a bit odd/random, but not too bad. I kind of forgot the color of Violet's hair, but that doesn't sound too much of a difference either. I'm definitely going to have to check the series out.

I do recall seeing the movie and thought Jim Carey pulled off Count Olaf. Just like how he pulled of Eggman from Sonic.

I haven't read the books in a while so I can't remember everything.

But it's an amazing show.
