      In a very real sense, this isn't about Scoots joining Dashie's family, this is about Dashie joining Scoots' to be her "big sister".

      As we saw in the last season, Scoots had a lot of "surrogate" family caring for her, including her aunts and various trustworthy ponies from ponyville, this marks the point where scoots found the courage to ask Dashie to be her mentor, and Dashie agreed - a very important milestone in her life.
