No offense, but this seems like a pretty near-sighted viewpoint, if only because you're calling someone else close-minded about this.
Ever heard of Aurthur C Clarke's "Laws"? "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
This doesn't mean that they are the same, only that they are indistinguishable from each other at a high enough level.
I thought about this subject last night, and found this thread today and just wanted to share. I'm already using these in a story...
Honesty = Deceit
Laughter = Anguish
Generosity = Greed
Loyalty = Treachery
Kindness = Malice
Magic = Entropy (or Science, if you like)
I'm thinking Entropy (high entropy, really) is probably going to be a tough sell for most people, though...
